Arsenal Make Things Interesting

Man City Juggling EPL and Champions League

We may still have a title race in the Premier League. Arsenal, as underdogs, got a hard fought 2-0 win at Newcastle United to go one point behind Manchester City. Man City have played one game fewer than Arsenal but have a crucial Champions League fixture vs Real Madrid next Wednesday. So, Pep Guardiola has some difficult personnel decisions when they take on relegation-threatened Everton on Sunday. Meanwhile, Liverpool have rattled off six straight wins and are back in the UCL race. The relegation fight is also tipped to go down to the final day of the season. With just a few games remaining in the Premier League season, let’s take a look at the EPL Matchday 36 odds.

Games of the Week

LEE Leeds United vs Newcastle United NEW

Date & Time:

It’s been a disastrous run for Leeds as they’ve gone winless in their last six matches. Big Sam Allardyce is at the helm now, which should add a bit more structure to the LUFC side. Leeds were competitive last weekend vs Manchester City but ended up falling 2-1.

With the loss and Everton and Nottingham Forest’s wins, Leeds dropped to 19th place. Desperately needing a result, Leeds host a Newcastle side fighting for a Champions League berth on Saturday.

Newcastle also fell on Sunday to Arsenal but now the EPL odds price the Magpies as one-goal favorites. Leeds +1 sits at -135 odds and the hosts are +360 moneyline underdogs. Leeds have won just two of their last eight home matches but they have found the net in their last 10 Premier League matches.

Despite getting shut out last Sunday, Newcastle have averaged over 2.5 goals per game in their last five matches. Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak have been excellent up front for Newcastle lately. Although six of Leeds’ last ten matches have finished with four or more goals, under three goals come in at -120 odds for the match.

Currently in third place, Newcastle are just three points ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool. So, Eddie Howe’s side will be going all out for three points here. Newcastle -1 displays +115 odds, while the visitors also sit at -155 moneyline odds. The last meeting between these sides finished in a scoreless draw and another draw comes in at +330 odds for this match.

EVE Everton vs Manchester City MCI

Date & Time:

Everton thrashed Brighton 5-1 on Monday to get their first win since March and escape the relegation zone. Sean Dyche’s side are in 17th place just two points clear of the drop and need a result vs league leaders Manchester City on Sunday.

Goodison Park certainly isn’t an easy place to play and Everton defeated Arsenal there earlier this season. With Man City’s Champions League Semifinal fixture tied 1-1 ahead of next Wednesday’s second leg, Pep Guardiola needs his best players available to take on Real Madrid. That could potentially present an opportunity for Everton to grab some points.

Regardless, the EPL Matchday 36 odds price visitors Man City at -300 odds to win Sunday’s match. They’re on a ten-game winning streak in the Premier League, during which they’ve only kept three clean sheets. Still, under three goals display -120 odds for the match.

That could have something to do with the fact that Everton’s home matches have only averaged 2.3 goals per game this season. Everton +1.5 shows -115 odds for this match but the Toffees have lost their last two home matches by a combined 7-2 scoreline.

Everton are also +800 underdogs for the match, as they’re winless in their last 12 meetings vs. Manchester City. They did manage to get a 1-1 draw at the Etihad last December, though. Another draw comes in at +450 odds for this one.

Plus, Manchester City defender Nathan Ake is dealing with an injury that kept him out of Tuesday’s match vs Real Madrid. Aymeric Laporte is an option to take Ake’s place if he’s out again. Up front, City are deadly as Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne have been the league’s best duo this season.

ARS Arsenal vs Brighton BHA

Date & Time:

Arsenal thrust themselves back into the EPL title race with a 2-0 win at St. James’ Park over Newcastle on Matchday 35. The most difficult match remaining on their EPL schedule is Sunday’s clash with Brighton.

The Seagulls lost 5-1 to Everton on Monday to dent their Champions League hopes and should be motivated for this one. Plus, Brighton have won their last two games vs Arsenal at the Emirates across all competitions. The reverse fixture was a six-goal thriller, though, as Arsenal came away with a 4-2 win.

Both EPL teams are on long scoring streaks. Arsenal have found the back of the net in their last 15 EPL games, while Brighton have scored in 11 straight. Still, under three goals come in at -115 odds for Sunday’s match. Arsenal defender William Saliba is still out but Jakub Kiwior has filled in admirably during the last two matches.

The Gunners enter the match as -130 ATS and moneyline favorites. They’ve put together an impressive 13-3-1 EPL record at the Emirates this stadium. Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has also been in great form, as he’s scored five goals in his last five games.

Brighton have won three of their last five matches, which includes a 6-0 result vs. Wolves and victories over Manchester United and Chelsea. The Seagulls are +295 underdogs but they’ve proven they can hang with nearly anyone under Roberto de Zerbi.

Brighton +0.5 displays +110 odds and they’ve put together the fourth-best road record in the league this season. They’re 7-4-5 away from the AMEX Stadium but have lost their last two road games. A draw would almost certainly kill Arsenal’s title hopes and it shows +320 odds.

LEI Leicester City vs Liverpool LIV

Date & Time:

The 2015-16 Premier League champions Leicester City are running a real risk of going down to the second tier. Leicester are in 18th place with three games to go, two points from safety. With difficult matches vs Liverpool, West Ham and Newcastle remaining, Leicester need all the points they can get.

Monday’s opponents Liverpool have won six straight matches in the Premier League, though, and are just one point behind Manchester United for the final Champions League spot.

With Liverpool in fine form, the EPL Matchday 36 odds list Jurgen Klopp’s side as one-goal favorites. Both Leicester +1 and Liverpool -1 show -110 odds as both teams desperately look for all three points. Leicester have won just one of their last 11 EPL matches and the hosts are +385 underdogs for Monday’s match.

Liverpool have outscored their opponents 15-7 on their winning streak and are -175 moneyline favorites. Over three goals also display -135 odds as Leicester have conceded over two goals per game during their last five. They lost 5-3 to Fulham on Monday but Harvey Barnes managed a brace in the loss.

For Liverpool, Mo Salah has scored in his last three matches. He hasn’t had his best campaign in 2022-23 but has still managed to score 19 goals and provide seven assists this season. Even though Liverpool won the reverse fixture 2-1, no LFC player managed to score in the match.

Leicester’s Wout Faes had a shocker as he scored two own goals in the match. The last seven EPL matches between these sides have finished with a winner but a draw is priced at +375 odds.
