Man City vs Arsenal Head-to-Head

Heading into last October’s meeting, Manchester City had won their last 12 matches vs. Arsenal on the English Premier League schedule. Plus, they were unbeaten in the last 15 EPL matchups before the Gunners came away with a gutsy 1-0 victory at the Emirates. Arsenal kept a clean sheet and Gabriel Martinelli scored in the 86th minute on a deflected shot and the pregame Man City vs Arsenal EPL odds listed hosts Arsenal as +200 underdogs. Arsenal also defeated Man City in penalties in the 2023 Community Shield but that was their first EPL win over City since 2015.

Man City Hoping De Bruyne and Ederson Will Return

Manchester City thoroughly dominated in their 2-0 victory in the FA Cup Quarter-Final over Newcastle. City’s goals weren’t all that pretty, as Bernardo Silva scored on two deflections, but they held the Magpies to just one shot on target. Now, Man City take on Chelsea in the Semifinal in late April. City’s form has been stellar and they’re on a 20 match unbeaten streak heading into Sunday’s match vs Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola’s side may be in third place in the Premier League standings but they are +120 favorites to win a fourth straight title. Still, they are sweating the fitness of four players ahead of Sunday’s clash. Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne have been out since before the international break. However, Kyle Walker and Matheus Nunes picked up knocks on international duty. It is possible that all could suit up on Sunday, though.

If not, Phil Foden should shoulder the creative load and he’s been a standout this campaign. The English international has scored 11 goals and provided seven assists in the Premier League this season. Erling Haaland hasn’t hit the same heights he reached last season but the Norwegian still leads the EPL, with 18 goals. Bettors should note that City have only scored one goal in four of their last five Premier League games, though.

Arsenal on League’s Longest Active Winning Streak

The last time Arsenal played was all the way back on March 12th. In the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16, the Gunners managed to defeat FC Porto in a penalty shootout. Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard scored the game’s only goal to equalize the fixture at one and neither team found a breakthrough in extra time. In penalties, Arsenal keeper David Raya was the hero, as he saved two spot kicks.

Arsenal also have the longest active winning streak in the Premier League, at eight games. They’ve scored at least two goals in each of those matches and have been clicking on offense lately. The trio of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz have led the charge offensively for Arsenal in recent weeks. Havertz has scored in each of his last four Premier League games and he netted the winner vs. Brentford in Arsenal’s last EPL match.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal seem to be learning from their mistakes from last season, when they lead the league almost the entire campaign and blew it late. They’ve both scored the most goals in the league and have conceded the fewest. There is real belief among this Arsenal group that they can win this match.

Man City vs Arsenal Match Analysis & Odds

Manchester City have always been favorites vs. Arsenal at the Etihad in the Pep Guardiola era and this match is no different. The Man City vs Arsenal EPL odds list the Cityzens as -110 ATS and moneyline favorites here. While City have a few players scrambling to get back from injuries, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are not 100 percent fit. Saka seems to constantly play through injuries anyway, so expect him to suit up here.

Bettors can also take Arsenal +0.5 at -110 odds and the Gunners to win their first Premier League match at the Etihad since 2015 at +295. A draw comes in at +280 odds and it wouldn’t be too surprising. When City met Liverpool a few weeks ago, the match finished all square at one.

Arsenal managed to snag a draw at Anfield earlier this season and they’ve certainly closed the gap on City this year. Yes, City are the favorites but Arsenal can keep this one a competitive match and they’d potentially be title favorites if they pick up all three points. In what could be a tight one, under 2.5, 3 goals are priced at -115 odds.
