Man United vs Liverpool Odds & Preview
Liverpool Enter Weekend as EPL Leaders

Rematch of Thrilling FA Cup Quarter-Final
The last time Manchester United and Liverpool played in a Northwest Derby it was a seven goal extra time thriller, which United won 4-3. Now, the two sides will face off in the Premier League in a rematch of that FA Cup Quarter-Final match. Man United are also coming off a draining 4-3 loss to Chelsea on Thursday, while Liverpool defeated Sheffield United 3-1. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will enter the weekend as EPL leaders and intend to stay on top of the table. Ahead of Sunday’s Northwest Derby, we’ll analyze the Man United vs Liverpool odds.
Man United vs Liverpool Head-to-Head:
Manchester United and Liverpool met just a few weeks ago in the FA Cup Quarter-Final and the pregame Man United vs Liverpool odds listed the visitors as -120 favorites. In a wild match, which saw the lead change hands on four occasions, underdogs United managed a 4-3 extra-time win.
Amad Diallo scored his first Manchester United goal for three years in stoppage time to pull off the victory. When these teams met at Anfield in the Premier League, back in December, the match finished scoreless. However, United did lose 7-0 to Liverpool as recently as last March and have won just two of the last twelve 90-minute meetings.
Man United Blow Another Lead in Stoppage Time
Manchester United fell behind 2-0 just 20 minutes into their match at Chelsea on Thursday. While the Red Devils’ defending was questionable, their response certainly can’t be knocked. Alejandro Garnacho pounced on an errant pass from Moises Caicedo to get a goal back in the 34th minute. Then, Bruno Fernandes headed home from a Diogo Dalot cross just a few minutes later to level the score going into the break.
In a wild second half, Garnacho added a second goal of the night from Antony’s incredible outside of the foot cross. United were leading the match deep into stoppage time but conceded a penalty, which Cole Palmer converted for his second goal of the night. Chelsea had one last chance in the 101st minute, which Palmer shot off of United’s Scott McTominay and into the back of the net. Palmer, a boyhood United fan, completed his hat trick and broke Man United’s hearts. It’s the second straight match in which Manchester United have blown a lead in stoppage time.
While Erik ten Hag’s side are still in sixth place in the Premier League table, they’re now sporting a negative goal difference for the season. Manchester United have won just one of their last five Premier League matches and they haven’t been their usual selves at Old Trafford this season.
Manchester United are 8-1-5 at their home ground in the league but they have lost just one game at Old Trafford since the start of 2024. Plus, Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans both went off injured and United have almost no center back depth with Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof also out.
Liverpool Challenging Despite Injuries
Liverpool took on Sheffield United at Anfield on Thursday’s Premier League schedule. The Reds scored on a bit of a bizarre play to open up the scoring. Darwin Nuñez hounded Sheffield United keeper Ivo Grbic and the latter’s kick deflected off of Nuñez into the goal.
Liverpool conceded early in the second half to allow Sheffield United back into the match but responded well. Alexis Mac Allister scored a screamer from the edge of the box to put Liverpool ahead once again. Cody Gakpo, who came on as a substitute, scored a 90th minute insurance goal in the 3-1 victory.
With the win, Liverpool once again leapfrogged Arsenal to snag first place. With eight games to go and just a two-point lead, there is very little margin for error. Currently, the Premier League odds list Liverpool as +120 favorites to pull off their first title in four years. Liverpool’s remaining schedule isn’t terribly difficult but Sunday could be a tough one. Still, Liverpool are an impressive 8-4-2 away from Anfield this season.
Notably, Mac Allister has a goal contribution in each of his last six matches, in all competitions. Both Mo Salah and Nuñez have reached the double digit goal mark in the Premier League and they’re a handful for any defense. It’s quite remarkable Liverpool are challenging for the title with the injuries they’ve suffered this season.
While Thiago has only played one match and Joel Matip is out for the season, all of Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota will likely miss out on Sunday. Midfielder Wataru Endo is also listed as doubtful, with a knock.
Man United vs Liverpool Analysis & Odds
While Liverpool have thrived despite their injuries, Manchester United is an already-fragile side. Varane and Evans going down could only leave them with one senior center back, Harry Maguire, available. Willy Kwambala, a 19-year old center back, could get thrown into the fire here if neither Varane nor Evans can play. The last time these teams met, it was a goal fest, and we could see more of the same come Sunday. Both over and under 3.5 goals show -110 odds here.
Salah has scored 13 career goals for Liverpool vs Manchester United and he’ll be looking to add to his tally this weekend. Liverpool head to Old Trafford as -145 ATS and moneyline favorites, while Man United are +335 underdogs. Bettors can also back Man United +0.5 at +125 odds but this is going to be a tough one for them. Manchester United haven’t won back-to-back games vs. Liverpool since 2016.
Plus, Liverpool have scored at least four goals in four of their last six EPL matches vs. Man United. The Man United vs Liverpool odds also price a draw at +335 and that is how the last two 90 minute games have finished between these sides. Still, we’d expect the visitors to come away with a win as the title race heats up.
