ESL Pro League Playoff Odds

The ESL Pro League is arguably the most significant Esports event in CS:GO. Season 17 began in late February, and we’re on to the playoffs this week! The remaining 16 teams are duking it out for the coveted $850’000 prize pool and spots at IEM Cologne 2023 and BLAST Premier World Final 2023.

Here is everything you need to know going into the ESL Pro League odds for the playoffs.

ESL Pro League Playoff Format and Schedule

Format

Season 17 of the ESL Pro League will feature a new format altogether, as the tournament featured 32 participating CS:GO teams for the first time in its eight-year history. The tournament will kick off with a triple-elimination Group Stage, followed by a single-elimination playoff bracket.

In the Group Stage, all 32 CS:GO teams were split into four eight groups. Each group went through a triple-elimination bracket, after which the top four CS:GO sides qualified for the playoffs.

Group winners advanced directly to the quarter-finals, whereas runners-up will proceed to the Round of 12 as High Seeds. CS:GO Teams that finish in third and fourth place within their respective groups will qualify for the Round of 16 as High and Low Seeds, respectively.

The ESL 17 Playoffs will feature the top 16 CS:GO teams in the tournament in a single-elimination bracket. All matches in the Group Stage and Playoffs will be best-of-threes, except the Grand Finals, which will be decided in a best-of-five series.

Ways to Bet on the ESL Pro League Playoffs

There are a few different betting options for the ESL Pro League. The more popular ones are the outright winner, but for a more obscure bet that could give a better payout, there are match-winner bets, handicaps, and real maps.

ESL Pro League outright tournament winner

Here, a bettor can predict the possible winner of the ESL Pro League and stake any amount (bearing in mind the minimum bet allowed) they wish on that team becoming the champions. If the team eventually wins the tournament, the bettor wins the bet.

Match Winner

Esports bettors can wager who between two competing teams will win in a given match. Their Esports odds will reflect their current form and other key variables.

Handicap (Maps)

This type of ESL Pro League bet allows the bettor to place wagers exclusively based on the maps of each match. This option involves giving a supposed strong team a map-based disadvantage or the weaker team an advantage. The bettor can wager on the stronger team securing more maps despite deducting a certain number of maps away from his total or vice-versa with a weaker team.

Total Maps (Over/Under)

Here, the bettor predicts the total maps obtained in an ESL Pro League fixture. Bettors have to choose either over or under the number of maps to be achieved in a match. The bettor wins the bet if the total number of maps in half exceeds the affixed limit. Conversely, the bettor loses if the total number of maps in the game equals or is less than that of the limit chosen in the wager.

Teams to Watch

G2 and Heroic are the two top teams in the tournament, and their play in the group stages cemented that. However, just because they are the best teams, that does not mean they are the best teams for esports bettors to bet on. So, for the best possible payout, those two teams could be Fnatic and, oddly enough, Moviestar Riders.

Fnatic (+2500)

Fnatic used to be one of the more storied teams in CS:GO before 2020. They were the team to beat. However, they have dropped off and have not had any good runs in various tournaments over the years. This year could be different, though. They have only lost two games during the ESL Pro League season and have dominated in the games they won. They are on the up and up, and at +2500, Fnatic should be a team to watch going forward.

Moviestar Riders (+10000)

Have you heard of Moviestar Riders? Cause we sure as hell have not, either! They qualified for the ESL Pro League through the Challenger tournament in Valencia, Spain. Last year, they placed fourth in the IEM Master Cologne after losing to FaZe and taking out a couple of big teams. However, this year they have done well as they barely lost to FURIA and lost to Heroic. They will be a fun team if they pull off the upset against G2.
