VALORANT Champions Tour 2023 Odds
No Second Chances at VALORANT Champions Tour 2023 CT Lock-In

The opening tournament to the rejuvenated VALORANT Champions Tour 2023 is on the horizon. From February 13 to March 4, 32 teams will compete against each other to earn their region an extra slot in the upcoming Master’s event in Japan. This event will be the first since Riot Games announced the new partnership system. First, Riot broke down all teams into three sections: Americas, EMEA, and Pacific. Then, Riot invited a limited number of teams from these regions to compete in the prestigious league.
Thirty-two partnered VALORANT teams are looking to take the top spot early in the year. VALORANT Champions Tour 2023 officially kicks off on Monday, February 13, in São Paulo, Brazil. So let’s get into it!
Participating Teams
Ten teams from each region were invited to São Paulo, with the remaining two teams being invited from China. The Chinese competitive scene is new this year and is still under development, but it features two popular Chinese organizations: EDward Gaming and FunPlus Phoenix.
Fun Plus Phoenix is no stranger to the VALORANT Champions Tour 2023. They won the Masters: Copenhagen at the tail end of last season and finished the year with a fourth at Champions.

Tournament Format
Despite multiple teams disliking the format, Riot chose a single-elimination style. Each team has been paired up with a team from a polar region to determine which team will move on and which will be eliminated. Quarterfinals and semifinals will follow two rounds before a winner is crowned.
Teams were drawn and placed into two groups called Alpha and Omega. To decide the teams in each group and maximize the number of inter-regional matches, Riot implemented a random draw process that pairs teams from different regions in the first round while increasing the possibility of inter-regional games in the second round.
Regions were first paired into 16 first-round match-ups, with each match-up comprising two team slots:
- EMEA vs. Pacific — 5 match-ups
- Americas vs. Pacific — 5 match-ups
- Americas vs. EMEA — 4 match-ups
- China vs. Americas — 1 match-up
- China vs. EMEA — 1 match-up
Each team slot was assigned a random number from 1 to 10 to account for the ten teams in each partnered league and the two Chinese teams. These 16 match-ups were distributed across both sides of the single-elimination bracket to ensure cross-regional play.
Finally, all 32 teams were randomly assigned a number from 1 to 10, which decided their place in the bracket.
There are no second chances at the VALORANT Champions Tour 2023 CT Lock-In, and teams are eliminated immediately after a single series loss. As a result, only two teams will emerge from each side of the 16-team bracket and move on to the semifinals and grand final.
All matches will be best-of-three, except for the semifinals and grand final, which are best-of-five.
Prize Pool
The Lock-In São Paulo will feature a $500,000 prize pool, with each team taking home a minimum of $5,000. However, whoever wins the tournament will receive a trophy and an additional $100,000 to distribute amongst their team.
Additionally, Riot is offering another promo bundle to support teams. The VCT bundle will be provided during the tournament and will not return to shops afterward. Of the proceeds, 50 percent will go to the partnered VALORANT teams.

Top Picks
NAVI, Sentinels, and Clud9 are the obvious picks for esports bettors. They usually do well in every VALORANT Champions Tour event that they play. Therefore, betting on them at their respective odds is always safe. However, that does not mean they are still the BEST teams to bet on.
Here are our top picks for the VALORANT Champions Tour 2023 Lock-In São Paulo:
100 Thieves (+1000)
Despite underperforming in recent tournaments, 100 Thieves is one organization that always pulls through. They have started to invest more time and energy into VALORANT, so this VCT season should interest them.
Fun Plus Phoenix (+1200)
Fun Plus Phoenix is one of two teams from China to get invited to the VALORANT Champions Tour 2023. They were excellent in the Masters: Copenhagen and finished fourth in the Champions tournament last year. So they are a team whose odds should be much higher.
Evil Geniuses (+3300)
Evil Geniuses, like 100 Thieves, are one of those organizations that perform in every esports event they attend. Unfortunately, they could not have done too well in VALORANT, but their team has excellent chemistry and hope to shock everyone in the VCT this year.
KRU Esports (+4000)
KRU is one of the top teams coming out of South America. They always do well leading up to events but choke in the early stages. However, they are playing close to home in the Lock-In São Paulo to use that to their advantage.
