Real Madrid Win Eight Goal Thriller

Real Madrid defeated rivals Atletico Madrid 5-3 on Wednesday in a wild Supercopa de España Semifinal that had a little bit of everything. Los Blancos fell behind 1-0 in the match as Atletico’s Mario Hermoso headed in a corner. Then, Real Madrid defenders Antonio Rudiger and Ferland Mendy got on the scoresheet to give Los Blancos a 2-1 lead in the match. Before halftime, Antoine Griezmann scored a superb solo goal to level the match and become Atleti’s all-time leading scorer. Atletico Madrid took a late lead on a Kepa Arrizabalaga mistake and Rudiger own goal.

However, Real weren’t done yet as Dani Carvajal powered a strike into the top corner to equalize and send the match into extra time. In extra time, Joselu scored a 116th minute header and Brahim Diaz added the finishing touches on Real’s 5-3 win. Now, Real Madrid are in their fourth Supercopa final in the last five years. Bettors should note that Real have won three of their last four appearances in this match and have been an excellent soccer betting pick.

Bettors should note that Real are unbeaten in their last 20 games heading into this match, including their last 13 on the La Liga schedule. Vinicius Jr. recently returned from an injury and started on Wednesday vs. Atletico. Meanwhile, all of Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo and Joselu have 10 or more goals, in all competitions. While all of Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao and David Alaba are out with ACL injuries, Lucas Vazquez is sidelined with a hamstring problem.

Barcelona Look to Defend Title

Barcelona took on a scrappy Osasuna side on Thursday in the second Semifinal of the Supercopa de España. Raphinha went off injured for Barcelona in the first half and Lamine Yamal came on in his place. In the second half, Robert Lewandowski broke the deadlock and put Barcelona ahead 1-0. Yamal scored just his second Barça goal in stoppage time after a brilliant run from Joao Felix. So, Xavi’s side got a 2-0 win to advance to Sunday’s final, where they’ll look to defend their title.

Now, the Real Madrid vs Barcelona Supercopa Final odds price Barcelona as underdogs. While Real are on a long unbeaten streak, Barcelona have gone five games unbeaten and lost twice in December. Thursday’s clean sheet was Barcelona’s first in seven matches as Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s absence has definitely been felt. The German goalkeeper will remain out until March and Iñaki Peña will continue to deputize in the meantime.

Along with Ter Stegen, Gavi is out injured. All three of Joao Cancelo, Marcos Alonso and Iñigo Martinez are listed as doubtful at the moment. It doesn’t appear that Raphinha will be able to suit up on Sunday either as 16-year old Yamal could be handed a start. With how effective Joao Felix was on the opposite wing, don’t be surprised to see the Portuguese international make a start either.

Match Analysis & Odds

The Real Madrid vs Barcelona Supercopa Final odds imply this one could be a close match, which most neutral observers certainly wouldn’t complain about. Real Madrid are +135 ATS and moneyline favorites, while Barcelona come in at +175 moneyline odds and a draw sits at +230. Two of the last four finals have gone into extra time but none of the last 12 meetings between these teams have finished all square.

With Vini Jr. back in the lineup for Real, Los Blancos pose more of a threat and Barcelona’s defense has looked quite shaky in recent weeks. There’s no doubt that Real have a stronger midfield as well, especially with Barcelona’s Pedri just returning from injury. Two players who started on the bench for Real also scored on Wednesday, in Joselu and Brahim Diaz.

Bettors can take Barcelona -0.5 at -165 as the Catalan club have an implied 62.2 percent chance to avoid defeat, at least through 90 minutes. Over 2.5 goals come in at -130 odds in what could turn into a goalfest. Even though the Supercup doesn’t tend to be as high-priority as other competitions, Clasicos between the two sides tend to be fiery affairs regardless.
