Both Sides Coming off Wins

Multiple Players Out for Brazil

It’s been business as usual for Brazil so far in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. They’ve won their first two matches, and Brazil and Argentina are the only two perfect teams so far. On Thursday, Brazil, with a weakened squad, hosts Venezuela in Cuiaba. Amid investigations for different reasons, Antony and Lucas Paqueta are out of the Brazil squad. Meanwhile, no fewer than four Brazil regulars are injured. With notable absences, we’ll examine the Brazil vs Venezuela odds.

⚽ Brazil vs Venezuela ⚽

Date & Time:
Location: Arena Pantanal, Cuiaba, Brazil

Head-to-Head:

Brazil has kept four clean sheets in their last five games vs. Venezuela and has been an excellent pick to bet on soccer in this fixture. The Selecao are also on a three-game winning streak vs. Venezuela, and these teams last played in 2021. Brazil defeated Venezuela 3-1 in an October 2021 World Cup qualifier. In the Copa America 2021, Brazil also picked up a 3-0 win in Group B. Brazil has a 7-3-0 record in the last 10 matches and last lost to Venezuela in 2008.

Brazil off to Strong Start

Brazil kicked off the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in September with two wins. Brazil picked up a 5-1 win in their opener, vs. Bolivia. In the match, Neymar scored twice, breaking Pele’s record for most goals by any Brazil national team player. Defender Marquinhos scored the game’s only goal at Peru a few days later. Neymar, who moved to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal over the Summer, is in the squad for the matches vs. Venezuela and Uruguay.

However, a bunch of Brazilian players are out for this pair of qualifiers. Antony is still under investigation for sexual assault, while Lucas Paqueta is being investigated for betting breaches. Renan Lodi, Joelinton, Raphinha, and Eder Militao are also injured. Regardless, Brazil are unbeaten in their last 36 CONMEBOL qualifiers. The Selecao last lost a qualifier in October 2015 at Chile and have been South America’s most dominant team since. They came in first place in the 2022 CONMEBOL qualifying World Cup standings and expect to finish on top once again.

The Brazil vs Venezuela odds price the hosts as massive favorites, and they hold a 24-3-2 record vs. Venezuela all-time. Brazil scored in 17 of their last 18 games but lost to the likes of Morocco and Senegal in friendlies this year. Fernando Diniz is Brazil’s caretaker manager until Carlo Ancelotti takes over next Summer.

New Era for Venezuela

Venezuela have never qualified for the FIFA World Cup, and they didn’t come close in 2022. La Vinotinto went 3-1-14 on their CONMEBOL qualifying World Cup schedule last time and lost all nine of their road matches. Fernando Batista hopes to improve Venezuela’s recent results, and early signs are promising. Since taking over as coach in March, he’s put together a 4-1-1 record.

In September, Venezuela fell 1-0 to Colombia and managed a 1-0 win over Paraguay. They’re currently in fifth place in CONMEBOL but have difficult matches vs. Brazil and Chile coming up. Plus, Venezuela has never won vs. Brazil on Brazilian soil.

Salomon Rondon scored a stoppage-time penalty to sink Paraguay in September, and the striker is La Vinotinto’s key player. Rondon is Venezuela’s all-time leading scorer, with 40 goals in 98 appearances. He scored four goals in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, while Cadiz midfielder Darwin Machis scored three times.

Match Analysis & Odds

Brazil have won each of their last four World Cup qualifiers vs. Venezuela and went 14-3-0 in 2022 World Cup qualifying. Here, the Brazil vs Venezuela odds price the hosts as -910 favorites as they’re expected to pick up another win. Brazil had an all-world attack with the likes of Neymar, Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr., Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison. With Bruno Guimaraes and Casemiro in midfield, the Selecao should be able to dominate La Vinotinto.

Venezuela comes in as +2200 underdogs as they go for their first-ever win at Brazil. The odds imply they have just a 4.3 percent chance of victory. Brazil -2.5 displays +115 odds here, while Venezuela +2.5 sits at -145. Bettors can also find a draw at +770 odds, but Brazil will only be thinking about all three points.

Over three goals show -120 odds, as Brazil did put five on Bolivia in their home opener. Venezuela’s road form in CONMEBOL has been abysmal, and they’ll certainly take any result they can get here.
