Odds to Win Women’s World Cup: Australia & New Zealand 2023
USA Still Favorites After Shaky Group Stage

Colombia, Nigeria and Japan Biggest Climbers
The Group Stage of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup concludes on Thursday, and the round of 16 will start just a day later. So far, there have already been some standout teams, like Japan, Sweden and Colombia. All of them now have shorter odds to go on and win the Women’s World Cup, as a result. Still, the USA, as two-time defending champions, are favorites to win a third straight title. With the group stage nearly complete, we’ll go through the latest odds to win the Women’s World Cup.
Favorites
The USA entered the Women’s World Cup as +270 favorites to defend their title again. They managed to defeat Vietnam 3-0 in their first match on the FIFA Women’s World Cup schedule but stumbled in their next two matches. They needed a second-half comeback to draw with 2019 finalists Netherlands. Then, the USA failed to score in their group stage finale vs. Portugal, which finished 0-0.
Early signs are concerning, but the USA still show the shortest odds to win the Women’s World Cup at +350. After all, talented players like Alex Morgan, Sophia Smith and Lindsay Horan can turn it on at any time. After finishing second in Group E, the USA are currently awaiting their round of 16 opponent, which will most likely be Sweden.
Next up on the odds board is Spain at +400. They easily won their first two matches but fell 4-0 to Japan in the group stage finale. They take Switzerland in the round of 16, in a match they’re favored to win. Aitana Bonmati and Alexia Putellas are two star players to watch in the knockout stage.
England, the 2022 European champions, finished the group stage a perfect 3-0. They demolished China 6-1 in their group stage finale as phenom Lauren James added another two goals to her tally. England take on a Nigeria side in the round of 16 they should beat. Now, the Lionesses sit at +450 odds to win their first Women’s World Cup.
Dark Horses
Germany still need to get a result vs. South Korea to book their place in the knockout stage following a 2-1 loss to Colombia. However, they got one of the most lopsided FIFA World Cup results in recent memory as they defeated Morocco 6-0 in their opener. Star midfielder Alexandra Popp has already scored three goals as the Germans are priced at +800 odds to win a third Women’s World Cup.
Japan are one of the biggest climbers on the odds board so far. They opened at +3300 odds to win the Women’s World Cup but now come in at +800 odds to win their first title since 2011. Japan dominated in the group stage, with three wins and no goals conceded. They face a tough opponent in the round of 16, in Norway.
Australia and France are next up, at +1200 odds. Australia won Group B and take on Denmark in the round of 16. Meanwhile, France are heavy favorites in their group stage finale vs. Panama and are widely expected to win Group F.
The 2019 finalists, the Netherlands, show +1400 odds to win the World Cup. They won their group over the USA and have one of the most talented rosters in the tournament. Brazil and Sweden are the only other two teams with shorter than +3000 odds, at +1600 and +2500, respectively.
Longshots/Eliminated Teams
Colombia opened at +25000 odds but now display +6600 odds after winning their first two matches. However, they’ve never made it past the round of 16. Norway also sit at +6600 odds but looked a bit shaky in the group stage. Switzerland and Denmark are interesting longshots, at +12500 odds each.
Meanwhile, Nigeria opened at +50000 odds to win the World Cup but are now listed at +15000 odds after finishing second in Group B. Plenty of teams have been eliminated already. Co-hosts New Zealand and the Philippines finished third and fourth in Group A, respectively.
Olympic champions Canada and debutants Republic of Ireland are going home early from Group B. Meanwhile, the lowest ranked team in the FIFA World Cup rankings Zambia managed to defeat Costa Rica but both teams are going home. China, Haiti, Portugal, Vietnam and Panama are also headed for early exits.
