2022 Golf Betting Highlights & Major Tourmanents Odds
The Majors Provided the Drama

This year, 2022, will long be remembered for the invasion of LIV, but the golfers stood out the most as we look at the best 2022 Golf Betting Highlights.
We were treated to four wonderful majors, all won by different golfers. Matt Fitzpatrick and Cam Smith emerged as the star players as the young guns continued their dominance.
Betting on PGA golf tournaments is a great way to find value and there is always excellent golf odds available.
No Big Upsets in Majors
There weren’t any massive upsets at the majors. The biggest came when Fitzpatrick won the US Open at Brookline, but even that wasn’t a big surprise.
The British golfer scored by one stroke over Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris, who added another second placing to his majors’ record. Zalatoris was one of the most consistent golf players in the 2022 majors, so bettors cashed in. He was an excellent top five and top 10 wager and a clear top pick for our 2022 Golf Betting Highlights.
It was a star-studded leaderboard, which included Hideki Matsuyama, Collin Morikawa and Rory McIlroy, who were all within four shots of the win. Cam Smith’s performance at the Open Championship at St. Andrews added to the international team’s success. One of the better editions of The Open, Smith showed his tenacity by fending off Cameron Young.
Smith maintained his domination and departed the PGA Golf Tournament as one of the top golfers in the world before heading to the LIV Tour. He had previously won The Players in 2022, so his golf odds were firm to win The Open.
McIlroy came in third place and added a second close result, although the Northern Irishman has not won a major since 2014. Bettors weren’t able to cash with McIlroy, but he’s always popular.
Americans Started Strong
One of the 2022 Golf Betting Highlights was Scheffler’s dominance in March and April. The American won four tournaments in quick succession, including The Masters Tournament in April.
“I cried like a baby this morning,” “I was so stressed out. I didn’t know what to do and I was sitting there telling (my wife) Meredith, I don’t think I’m ready for this. I’m not ready, I don’t feel like I’m ready for this kind of stuff, and I just felt overwhelmed.” Scheffler said following his win
The WM Phoenix Open Golf Tournament was the first of the American’s four victories in two months. He delivered after several close calls, and after his victory in Phoenix, he added the Arnold Palmer Invitational, WGC Matchplay, and the Masters to his resume.
With the victory, he cemented his reputation and took the top spot in the world golf rankings. However, he would eventually lose it to McIlroy.
Scheffler wasn’t able to add to his win tally for the rest of the year, but he cashed in for bettors.
Keeping the Americans in the hunt was Justin Thomas, who provided one of our top 2022 Golf Betting Highlights in the PGA Championship. He had no right to win, but after a choke for Chile’s Mito Pereira, Thomas capitalized.
He still had to fend off Zalatoris in a playoff, but Thomas’s second PGA Championship win was sweet. His player odds ballooned out to massive odds in the final round, with the sportsbook not expecting what transpired on the 18th.
Bettors following live golf betting markets could have jumped on Thomas at the big price, but not many predicted what would unfold.
