A-Rating for Aberg with 2023 Shriners Childen’s Open Odds
The Swede Eyes His First PGA Tour Win

The 2023 Shriners Children’s Open is the next PGA Tour tournament on the schedule, and it’s Tom Kim headlining betting markets.
However, leading the golf leaderboard on Sunday could be Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg, who went close last week at the Sanderson Farms Championship.
His odds have drifted, but he’s seeking his first PGA Tour win, and he could be the one to follow.
No Reason to Bet Against Aberg
We’re unsure why Aberg’s 2023 Shriners Children’s Open odds drifted to +1400, but we’re happy to stick with him.
The Ryder Cup-winning European didn’t have his best form last week, which was understandable given the week he had, but he still managed to make a playoff.
A par wasn’t good enough to win the five-man playoff, but he must be thrilled with how he played on the final day.
PGA golf today is all about going low, and Aberg is good enough to shoot low enough numbers to win on the Tour.
“For me to kind of come over here to play after Rome was something that I wanted to do, and obviously, I think the round on Thursday kind of set the pace a little bit,” said Åberg, who shot an opening-round 67. “It was nice to see a good score coming in, and then I just kept going.”
We’re not surprised by the support for Tom Kim, who excels on these types of golf courses, but the value is clearly with Aberg, who has his swing in fine order.
Defending Champ is Back
Kim won the 2022 Shriners Children’s Open, which is why he has attracted so much attention with the sportsbook.
It’s hard to believe Kim is only 21 years old and already has two PGA Tour titles to his name, so he is a sound wager.
The South Korean won by three strokes over Patrick Cantlay and Matthew NeSmith last year, and his first PGA Tour win came by five strokes, so he doesn’t like to make things close on Sunday.
He shot -24 to win last year; the same score should see him win again. That’s why he’s such a bright star: he can shoot low numbers, which are needed to win tournaments during the Fall Series.
His odds have been smashed into +1100, and although he hasn’t won for a year, it’s only a matter of time before he does.
Si-Woo, We See You
Si-Woo Kim can’t be underrated, and we could make the case for his odds being much shorter.
The South Korean is a four-time winner on the PGA Tour, including The Players Championship against the best golf players in the world.
The 28-year-old became the youngest Players winner of all time, and although he hasn’t hit the same heights since winning the American Express over Patrick Cantlay was a top effort.
He kicked off the year with a win in the Sony Open at Hawaii, shooting 64 in the final round to nab unheralded Hayden Buckley by one stroke.
He comes off a win at the Asian Games alongside Sungjae Im, so he’s in red-hot form.
“I am so proud to represent the country and win this gold medal,” Kim said.
“I grew up playing for the country quite a bit, but after turning pro, I didn’t have many opportunities to do so. Wearing the national flag again brought back some of the fond memories of playing for the country.”
2023 Shriners Children’s Open betting markets have Kim at +2200, and it’s hard to turn down such a generous price.
