Finau is the Time to Cash with American at 3M Open

Tony Finau Leads 2024 3M Open Odds

Tony Finau headlines the 2024 3M Open odds for the PGA Tour event, which is missing the best players in the world. Many of them are either taking a break after a treacherous Open Championship or preparing for the Olympic Games, so it’s a good chance to pick up a PGA Tour win.

It’s a good event on the PGA Tour schedule, and it’s a wide-open betting affair with the likes of Sam Burns, Sahith Theegala, and Keith Mitchell all well-backed to win.

Former Champ Finau Favored

Finau is a six-time PGA Tour winner, including the 2022 3M Open where he won by three strokes over Emiliano Grillo and Sung-Jae Im.

The American has won consistently since 2021, including wins in the Northern Trust, Rocket Mortgage Classic, Houston Open, and the 2023 Mexico Open.

When Finau wins golf tournaments, he usually wins easily. His last four wins have come by a combined 15 strokes. Bettors could have a comfortable lead with the PGA leaderboard today.

If Finau is near the front entering the weekend, he could run away with the win, and his +1100 odds suggest he’ll be tough to beat. He might have missed the cut last week, but many top players did. The conditions in Scotland were awful, and Finau has always played his best golf on American pitch-n-putt-style courses.

The 2024 3M Open odds favor to win, and it’s tough to disagree.

Burns Starting to Heat Up

Sam Burns made the cut at Royal Troon last week, and he’s starting to put everything together. The 27-year-old finished T9 at the U.S. Open, so he’s playing some of his best golf in the bigger tournaments.

The 3M Open isn’t a big tournament, but it’s a great chance for Burns to return to winning form. He is a five-time PGA Tour winner, and he has been a consistent winner over the last few years. All of his wins have come since 2021, including the Valspar Championship twice and the Dell Match Play in 2023.

However, he shot 80 in the final round at Royal Troon, and we’re hoping that doesn’t affect his mindset after blowing a chance to win.

He started the day one shot behind the leader, but we’re willing to take his 2024 3M Open odds of +1800.

The best way to bounce back is to win, and he’s due a win in 2024.

McNealy Nearing Overdue Win

Maverick McNealy has yet to win a PGA Tour tournament, which is rare for a former top-ranked amateur. The 28-year-old Stanford graduate missed the cut when shooting +10 last week, but he played well in the opening round, so we’ll give him credit.

The Californian should have won on the PGA Tour by now, especially with the LIV players not in action. However, we’re happy to keep giving him more chances. His amateur career was too good to ignore, but he has improved in 2024, including a T23 at the PGA Championship.

He has recently gone through a swing change with legend Butch Harmon.

“In terms of just my swing direction, I’ve moved mountains, going from four or five out to four, five, six left. It’s really weird to aim that far left, and there’s still a few times where I feel like I’m really going to miss it left, but getting more and more comfortable every day, it’s way easier to flight the ball, and I’ve been driving it so much better,” McNealy said.

Consistency for all four rounds has been his problem, but given the +5000 with 2024 3M Open odds, we’re not ignoring his hopes of success.

Knapp Seeking Second Win

Jake Knapp won his first PGA Tour tournament earlier in the year as a 29-year-old, so it has been a long time coming. However, after playing well last week, he could be right in the mix at big odds. The sportsbook has him at +6000, and that’s a good price.

He won the 2024 Mexico Open by two strokes, and although he missed the cut at the PGA Championship and U.S. Open, he finished T55 at The Masters. We don’t think he’s anything special, and the Mexico Open win came against a moderate field, but the odds are too good to pass up.

Knapp and also Nick Dunlap (+4500), who won last week, could catch fire and provide bettors with excellent value.
