Golf: Rookie Headlines Barbasol Championship Odds

The PGA Tour Heads to Kentucky

Chris Gotterup headlines the Barbasol Championship odds following an excellent performance last week.

The American is tied at the top of golf betting markets with Kevin Streelman, so it’s a wide-open betting affair on the PGA Tour.

PGA betting odds have the favorite at +2000, so there is excellent value available with Barbasol Championship odds.

Who is Gotterup?

We don’t blame bettors for not knowing who Gotterup is, but the young American could make a name for himself on the PGA Tour.

The 22-year-old sent a letter to the sponsor of the John Deere Classic requesting an exception to the tournament and his top-five finish was enough to secure him a spot in the Barbasol Championship.

Not only is he in the field this week, but he’s the joint favorite. That’s a credit to his ability and perseverance.

“Hopefully [my future is] on Tour,” Gotterup told GolfChannel.com. “Yeah, that’s, that’s the goal. So now, I know I’m good enough, and I know that I just gotta keep grinding.”

“Just more validation that I do belong out here,” said Gotterup, and “honestly, I didn’t have my greatest stuff this week; hit it amazing, but just put pretty poorly until coming down the stretch.”

The Big Ten Player of the Year for the 2019–20 season is being thrown into the deep end but he’s a player worth following and the Barbasol Championship odds are respecting his chances.

Upset Danger with Lingmerth

Golf betting is fantastic because it allows you to lock in large odds like those offered for David Lingmerth.

Although he hasn’t had the most consistent year, a repeat effort of his U.S. Open performance could see him threaten the top of the leaderboard late on Sunday.

The former top-40 player hasn’t been able to replicate the efforts which saw him win the 2015 Memorial Tournament, which isn’t an easy tournament to win. It was a stunning effort, so if Lingmerth is anywhere to be seen at the Barbasol Championship, he could win at huge odds.

Lingmerth is paying +11000 with Barbasol Championship odds and that price can’t be overlooked. He has two top-20 finishes in the majors and he brings experience to the table, so we’re keeping the faith.

Value with Hubbard

Mark Hubbard didn’t make the cut at the Wells Fargo Championship earlier this year but he has since produced quality finishes in five consecutive tournaments.

The American finished in the top 50 at the RBC Canadian Open, AT&T Byron Nelson, and Travelers Championship before earning a T13 at the John Deere Classic last week.

The 33-year-old doesn’t have a better opportunity to showcase his abilities against this caliber of competition, despite the fact that he has yet to win on the PGA Tour. We think it’s only a matter of time before he breaks through, and those who bet on golf get value odds.

Barbasol Championship odds have Hubbard at +2500 to win and we thought he would be shorter with the sportsbook. He is always around the mark and given the strength of this field, he could lead early and never look back.
