Golf: Scheffler Headlines PGA Tour Prop Bets
The Season-Ending Tour Championship
The Tour Championship is just around the corner and we have our best PGA Tour prop bets available.
Scottie Scheffler is all the rage in golf prop betting markets and there is excellent value with the young American for the Tour Championship.
Favorite Comes Out Humming
We are betting heavily on Scheffler to lead after the opening round since he already has a two-shot advantage over Patrick Cantlay and that could be enough.
Even though Cantlay just needs to beat the golfing superstar by three strokes to take the lead after the first round, we believe Scheffler will start well and extend his lead on Thursday. If he shoots around -2 or -3, he should have enough to secure the first-round lead.
Apart from Cantlay, we don’t expect any other golfer to chase him down. Bettors can take advantage of the -165 odds available and it’s one of the best PGA Tour prop bets available for the PGA Tour Championship.
Cantlay and Scheffler Top Picks
Cantlay and Scheffler are PGA Tour prop bets for the Tour Championship. They are +110 to win the tournament and that’s a value bet.
Even though players like Xander Schauffele, Jon Rahm, and Rory McIlroy are capable of catching the favorite, we believe Cantlay poses the biggest threat to the favorite.
Scheffler and Cantlay are currently playing too well to ignore, especially Cantlay who comes off a win in the BMW Championship.
Cantlay won the FedEx Cup last year as well and he’s aiming to win it twice in a row for the first time in history.
Cantlay has criticized the staggered start and has advocated for a different system that places a stronger emphasis on the Tour Championship.
“I’m not really sure. I think there’s got to be smarter people than me that have more experience putting this on than — it seems to get tweaked every year, and I’m not necessarily sure why,” Cantlay told GolfWeek.
“We went to the everyone starts at a different score to par a couple years ago. That still feels strange to me. It is a little clearer to watch on TV because you only have the one tournament going on, but you lose — the fact that it’s the Tour Championship is kind of gone, which I think is a shame really.”
Golf prop bets markets have the duo at value odds of +110 and that’s much better than the -150 for the field. We don’t see much value in that price, so take the better than even money for the two favorites.
Rahm and McIlroy Go Low
Rahm and McIlroy are excellent chances to shoot the lowest score in the Tour Championship.
Last year, Jon Rahm and Kevin Na shot the lowest score, with Rahm behind Cantlay by only one shot. PGA Tour prop bets have an option for bettors to bet on the lowest tournament score.
The Spaniard has been preparing for a major effort and we were pleased with how he wrapped out the BMW Championship weekend. Bettors get -180 for Rahm to finish in the top 10 in the Tour Championship.
McIlroy is another strong chance to shoot the lowest score. The Northern Irishman is -200 to produce a top-10 finish at East Lake and we think he’s an excellent wager.
The -200 and -180 for McIlroy and Rahm respectively are excellent golf parlay inclusions.
