McIlroy Back, Headlines 2024 Scottish Open Odds

Lead-Up to The Open Championship

Rory McIlroy is back after his U.S. Open meltdown, and he’s the +650 favorite to beat a quality field in Scotland.

2024 Scottish Open odds have McIlroy at +650, which is on the shorter side of value, but he’s the best player in the field.

Looking to play themselves into form before The Open Championship are Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, and Ludvig Aberg.

Golf this weekend is in good hands with the 2024 Scottish Open, and we can’t wait to tee off.

Bouncing Back from Disaster

Missing two short putts in the final three holes at the U.S. Open left McIlroy distraught, but the best way to get over that is to win.

He’s a great chance to win the Scottish Open and regain his confidence before trying to end his 10-year majors drought.

The Northern Irishman arguably played the best golf of anyone at the U.S. Open, but his inability to stay focused for 72 holes is a worry.

He might be better playing at LIV, but jokes aside, we’re picking McIlroy to prevail with the 2024 Scottish Open odds.

Whether you like it or not, the PIF are going to keep spending money in golf… at least the PGA Tour now controls how that money is spent,” McIlroy said about Saudi backing.

“One of the biggest sovereign wealth funds in the world, would you rather have them as a partner or an enemy? At the end of the day, money talks and you’d rather have them as a partner.”

He is the best golfer in the field, and having grown up playing tough European courses, he won’t be worried by the conditions in Scotland.

We would have liked better odds than +650, but considering his world golf rankings, the odds match the profile.

A-Listed Aberg Eyes Title

Aberg is one of the more promising golfers in the world, and he’s the real deal.

The Swede won the 2023 European Masters before joining the PGA Tour, where he also became a winner.

His effort to finish second at the Masters behind Scottie Scheffler is a credit to his professionalism, and he’s still learning the game.

It was just over a year ago when he was playing college golf, so the rise has been meteoric.

We expect to see him near the top of the golf leaderboard at the Scottish Open. Much like McIlroy, he knows what it takes to win in Europe, and it’s where he feels at home.

He’s in the field to win, and although he has suffered some niggling injuries in 2024, he should be back to full health.

Getting +1500 for Aberg is a fantastic price, and he could snap up his second DP World Tour victory.

Last Chance Saloon for Thomas

We have wasted a lot of time and energy backing Justin Thomas this year, but this will be his last chance.

The American has fallen from grace over the last two years, and there’s no logical explanation as to why.

Much like his friends Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler, Thomas’s game went from being at the top to being middle of the road.

He’s not battling injury, but he is battling his brain. Going through a slump is tough to come out of, and ever since there was a split on the PGA Tour, his game has suffered.

This is the time when he should be cashing in, with the likes of Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, and Jon Rahm not playing.

His 2024 Scottish Open odds of +3500 have pulled us in once again. If he doesn’t perform well in Scotland, we’ll never include him in our golf picks again.

Justin Thomas: you’re on notice!

Feeling Good with Theegala

Getting +4000 for Sahith Theegala to win the 2024 Scottish Open is good shopping, and we can’t turn down those odds.

Theegala, much like Aberg, is a shining light on the PGA Tour, and he could bring his best game to Europe.

He didn’t play overly well in the Travelers Championship, but that followed a tough performance at the U.S. Open when he finished T32.

The 26-year-old won the 2023 Fortinet Championship, and he has missed just one cut at the majors in his last eight attempts. That came at the 2023 Open Championship, but we’re not worried.

He will be better with that experience under his belt, and he has played well in tough conditions since.

The odds are generous, and he goes into our Scottish Open picks.
