PGA Memorial Tournament Preview: Rahm in Command
The PGA Tour Stars Return

Scottie Scheffler headlines betting markets but our PGA Memorial Tournament preview has Jon Rahm on top.
Golf odds have Scheffler at +650, despite having never won outside of February, March, and April. Therefore, we’re looking at other players to bet on this week.
Considering all of the golf tournaments throughout the year, the Memorial is one of the best.
Rahm Eyes Top Spot
Rahm lost his world number one spot to Scheffler at the PGA Championship, and he’s keen to get it back.
The Spaniard wasn’t at his best at Oak Hill after a struggling opening round, but he bounced back well enough, which showed his fighting qualities.
The 2023 Masters winner has been the best golfer this year by some margin, so we expected the sportsbook to have him favored to win.
He’s the current second favorite at +700, and our top pick with our PGA Memorial Tournament preview.
Even though the likes of Scheffler come off a solid performance last week, the rest might have been best for Rahm, who is already a four-time winner this year.
We expect his odds to firm throughout the week.
Patience with McIlroy
Bettors have shown great patience when backing Rory McIlroy, who promises to deliver the goods, but he keeps coming up short.
We don’t know what’s going through the mind of the Northern Irishman, but he needs to start playing good golf.
There have been off-course distractions, but there are no real excuses. However, we saw a better showing at Oak Hill, and we’re prepared to include him in our PGA Memorial Tournament preview as the second-best pick.
He has yet to win the Memorial, but he’s nearing his best after a T7 finish at the PGA.
“I’ll look back on this week as proud of how I hung in there, and I guess my attitude and sticking to it, not having my best stuff,” McIlroy said. “I just came in here trying to play a golf tournament, not thinking about getting myself in contention and not thinking about winning.
“I honestly didn’t feel like I had a chance of winning this week, so it was just about going out there and playing the best I could and trying to make the most of it.”
+1200 for McIlroy is a good price and we’ll keep backing him under he wins.
Don’t Drop Young
It hasn’t been the usual consistent golf for Cameron Young, who had a blistering start to his PGA Tour career, despite not winning.
After some tough results, we expect Young to get back to his best at the Memorial, and bettors get odds worth taking.
The 26-year-old shot +9 at the PGA Championship, which is easily his worst recent result. However, it could provide him with a much-needed wake up call.
The +3100 is worth taking, despite facing the best golfers in the world, because his first PGA Tour win isn’t far away, and it could come on the big stage.
Much like McIlroy, we’re happy to bet on him until he wins.
