Scheffler Dominant Favorite with 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson Odds

The PGA Tour Heads to TPC Craig Ranch

There is only one player bookmakers want with 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson odds and it’s Scottie Scheffler.

The former Masters winner is the only golfer with PGA betting odds at lower odds than +1400, which is incredible to see.

Whilst he’s the best player in the field, it means there is excellent value with his opposition.

Is Scheffler Too Short?

There is no doubting the class of Scheffler, but +350 is far too short with 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson odds.

The 26-year-old has yet to win in any other month than February, March, or April, so winning in May would be something new for the former world number one.

If he plays well this week, his PGA Championship odds would firm and we think he’s using this tournament to prepare for the major next week, which is our primary concern.

He hasn’t played for a few weeks, so he is using this tournament to find his groove. Meanwhile, there are other golfers in the field who are already in the zone.

The 2023 Players Championship winner can’t be overlooked at the short odds, but we don’t feel comfortable taking such a short price for a PGA Tour event. When Tiger Woods was in his dominating form, he would often be paying around +250, so taking +350 for Scheffler doesn’t seem like a value play.

The Australian Charge

Jason Day and Adam Scott are nearing overdue wins on the PGA Tour, so backing them with AT&T Byron Nelson odds isn’t the worst strategy.

Scott had an off day with the putter on Sunday at the Wells Fargo Championship last week, but he should be thrilled with the T5 finish after shooting even par in Round 4.

The 42-year-old hasn’t won since the 2020 Genesis Invitational, which ended a four-year winless streak. However, the 2013 Masters champion has always had class, and we see him winning in 2023.

“It’s been hard not to be frustrated because there isn’t one thing that I can really put my finger on why I’m not getting better results,” Scott said. “I play OK every week and OK kind of sucks on the PGA Tour, so I’m nowhere with anything.

“It’s never easy to win out here. If you can keep yourself under control, something goes right and you end up getting across the line. I know that’s easier said than done, but that’s kind of what it felt like.”

Fellow Australian Day missed the cut last week, which was a disappointing result given his 2023 form. The injury-plagued 35-year-old finished T39 at Augusta, T19 at Sawgrass, and T10 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Day is another golfer knocking on the door, so his AT&T Byron Nelson odds of +1800 must be respected. Scott is a +3000 chance, so he’s the better value.

J.J. to Spaun Success

J.J. Spaun often goes under the radar, but we’re happy to entertain his 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson odds of +5000.

The 32-year-old American is only a one-time PGA Tour winner, which came in the 2022 Valero Texas Open when beating Matt Jones and Matt Kuchar by two strokes.

He finished T27 at the Wells Fargo last week, which was a nice bounce back following a missed cut at the RBC Heritage.

He’s not the most consistent player on the PGA Tour, but this isn’t an overly deep field. There is a big chance of an upset, so take Spaun in all sorts of betting, including tournament winner at +5000, top 20 at +200, and to make the cut at -225.

There is value throughout the betting market with Spaun.
