Scheffler Tops 2023 Masters Preview
Can the American Be Stopped at Augusta?

Scottie Scheffler is all the rage to win consecutive Masters titles this week, and he clearly tops our 2023 Masters Preview.
The American is the joint favorite with Rory McIlroy with the odds for Masters victory, so it should be an epic four-day tournament in Georgia.
However, odds on golf this week have value prices for a plethora of golfers. It’s always a wide-open tournament with surprises thrown in.
Back-to-Back on the Cards
Scheffler typically performs well on the PGA Tour between February and April, so it’s a good time to place a bet on him while he’s in form.
The world number one is in excellent shape in 2023, with wins at the WM Phoenix Open and the Players at Sawgrass, and Scheffler is eager to defend his Masters’ title and grind his way to victory.
Regardless of his status as the defending champion, Scheffler knows everyone starts on the same score.
“So, as I’m approaching the Masters, I’m not going to think of myself as the defending champion,” Scheffler said.
“Everybody starts at even par. Doesn’t matter if I’m defending champion or not, they don’t give me any shots.”
Despite being given equal odds to McIlroy (+700), Scheffler is a logical bet since he loves Augusta, and he tops our 2023 Masters preview.
That Time of Day
Jason Day may have struggled with injuries in the past, but the former world number one has battled through them to make it to this year’s Masters.
Day’s recent form has been impressive, with top finishes at various tournaments. He played well at the World Match Play two weeks ago, beating numerous quality players on his way to a T5 finish.
It followed an excellent showing at The Players, which saw him record his fifth top-10 finish in 2023.
That is tough to overlook from a bettor’s point of view. He is a +2500 chance around a golf course that he knows inside out, so Day heavily features in our 2023 Masters preview.
We also suggest backing him to be the top Australian, where he has competition from LIV golfer Cameron Smith.
No Grief for Spieth
Jordan Spieth is on the fourth line of betting this week, but that shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Although the 29-year-old American may not be in peak form, he is getting there. Spieth won the RBC Heritage in 2022 and has been honing his game with each tournament, despite his last major victory being at The Open Championship in 2017.
Spieth has a special place in his heart for Augusta, having won the Masters in 2015, and has always played well on the course. With two consecutive wins on Easter Sunday, Spieth is an intriguing +1600 chance to win this week.
He knows what it takes to win around Augusta, and although he can be frustrating to watch at times, especially when his recent back nine antics, he is a classy golfer. He just needs to stay focused, and not let his emotions get out of check.
Spieth is a +1600 chance with bookmakers, and we expect him to feature in most 2023 Masters preview selections.
Niemann to Lead the LIV
There are many LIV golfers who could make a statement this week, but Joaquin Niemann could be the best of them.
Niemann is our top pick for shooting the lowest score on Thursday, with odds of +1100. Although the competition is fierce, with former world number two Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, and recent LIV winner Brooks Koepka among the contenders, Niemann could surprise us all.
If a LIV golfer is in contention on Sunday, viewers are in for a treat as the crowd has agreed to surround the 18th green for an exciting finale.
We want to see that happen because it will be interesting to see how the commentators react. It would make for great TV, and we’re backing the Chilean to get the job done at juicy odds.
A 2023 Masters preview wouldn’t be complete without talking about LIV.
