Scheffler Tops 2023 RBC Heritage Odds
The PGA Tours' Best Tee It Up
The 2023 RBC Heritage odds show a packed field of golfing superstars this week, including Masters champion Jon Rahm and current tournament favorite Scottie Scheffler.
RBC Tournament odds have Scheffler just ahead of Rahm, which could have something to do with Rahm having to play again so soon after celebrating his Masters success.
It’s one of the better PGA Tour fields of the year, and bettors get excellent value when betting on golf.
Keep That Anger in Check
Bettors witnessed the other side of Scheffler at the Masters last week. He was visibly frustrated with his play, but he was still good enough to be in contention on Sunday.
He’s a much better golfer when he doesn’t let missed putts get to him, so we expect that to be addressed at the RBC Heritage.
It’s not the first time his emotions got the better of him, according to his father.
“He was trying to make the Walker Cup team at that U.S. Amateur, he was five shots inside the cut line and he wavered, goes to a playoff, he makes a [big] number and we’re walking down the fairway,’’ Scott Scheffler said “I’ll never forget it. He may, but I won’t forget it. What do you do as a dad?”
We’re sticking with our guns that Scheffler is a gun golfer in the months of February, March, and April. He has yet to win a PGA Tour event outside of these months, so this could be his last chance to shine in 2023.
We don’t expect that to be the case, but the American is still playing excellent golf, so the +850 with 2023 RBC Heritage odds is worth taking, considering he was paying similar odds to win the Masters.
Young Nearing First Win
It’s clear to see that Cameron Young won’t take long to win his first PGA Tour event.
Last year’s Rookie of the Year produced another quality performance at the Masters, and he’s nearing the elusive win.
It could come at the RBC Heritage this week, on a course that should suit the 25-year-old. He is accurate, and he knows when to pump the gas.
There has been solid backing for Young with 2023 RBC Heritage odds, which isn’t surprising. He opened at +2500 before firming to +2000 since markets opened earlier in the week, so it’s a solid betting move.
It’s warranted, and we’re happy to have Young on our ticket every week until he wins. The chase theory is in effect.
Fitzpatrick Eyes Second Win
Matt Fitzpatrick has yet to win a regular PGA Tour event, but after finishing T10 at the Masters, he’s a good wager.
The Brit has, of course, won the 2022 U.S. Open, so he knows how to beat the best fields in the game, which would have to be the case at the RBC Heritage.
The 28-year-old is one of the more meticulous golfers, taking down notes for every shot he hits. That takes some determination, and we believe it will result in a win in 2023.
Fitzpatrick has been another market mover at the sportsbook. He opened at +3000 before firming into +2800 on the back of his strong performance, so he wouldn’t look out of place winning at Harbour Town.
We expect his 2023 RBC Heritage odds to firm in the hours leading up to his tee off, so take the value available.
Theegala is a Stud
Sahith Theegala created some fireworks when chipping in at the Masters, which earned him a ninth position.
He owns one PGA Tour win, but it came in a pairs tournament, so he’s still looking for his first solo win.
Bettors should be confident with the 25-year-old, who is starting to believe in himself. That’s a dangerous proposition, because he has the game to win multiple times in a year.
The former top amateur has the right attitude, and we’re happy to take the +5600. That’s an excellent price for someone of his caliber.
