Scheffler Tops US Open Future Odds

Los Angeles Country Club Hosts

US Open future odds have been released for the third golf major of the year and it’s Scottie Scheffler leading the way.

The American is the most consistent golfer in the world, which is why golf odds this week have him on top.

Looking to cause a minor upset are Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, and Brooks Koepka, who is the big firmer in the market.

Seeking an Overdue Win

We have talked about this before, but Scheffler has yet to win a professional golf tournament outside of February, March, and April.

That three-month stretch is a good time to be winning, but it comes as a concern for the likes of the U.S. Open and Open Championship.

Scheffler will win in the other nine months, it’s a matter of time, but it’s long overdue, and the pressure goes on the world number one.

He’s the most consistent golfer in the world, after posting another top-five finish at The Memorial in Ohio on the weekend.

The U.S. Open is one of the best golf tournaments on the calendar, and Scheffler is a +700 chance to win.

He has been striking the ball wonderfully, but it’s his putting that has let him down.

“A little bit of my struggles with the putting have probably helped me sort of elevate my ball striking just because if I’m trying to compete out here, I have to hit it really good and I’ve been able to do that,” Scheffler said. “Maybe people are asking me about my putting so much more because I’m hitting it so well. I mean, if I was putting the best this week, I would have won by a crazy amount of shots.”

However, he deserves to be the favorite with US Open future odds.

Win or Bust for Rahm

It seems as though Jon Rahm either wins or doesn’t come close, which was the case at The Memorial.

When he’s off his game, he typically shoots a poor opening round and he’s left chasing for the rest of the tournament. However, he’s already a four-time winner this season, and we all remember who wins tournaments.

The Spaniard is on the second line of betting at +800 alongside McIlroy, but Rahm represents much better value than McIlroy, who has been hitting poor shots at the wrong times.

Having a win-or-bust attitude isn’t the worst thing for the U.S. Open. Bettors know he’ll either have an excellent chance to win, or they can reinvest if he shoots a big score in the opening round.

If he is anywhere near the top of the leaderboard on Thursday, it’s his tournament to lose.

The Major Threat

Koepka is the biggest threat to the PGA Tour players, and he showed why when winning the PGA Championship.

It’s arguable that he’s the best player in the world, especially after looking likely in the Masters when losing on the final day to Rahm.

He was dominant in the PGA Championship, and he has been the big betting move with US Open future odds. He’s on the third line of betting at +900 after opening around +3500, so it’s a huge move, and rightfully so.

His coach, Pete Cowan, believes he can win more.

“I believed he could come back because he has always been comfortable in uncomfortable situations,” Cowan said. “He looks as though he is going to beat you now when he is coming down the stretch. He is not frightened of working, that’s for sure, and he couldn’t work when he was injured.”

He targets majors and the U.S. Open is well within his reach. Koepka could continue to firm over the next two weeks, and close as the joint favorite with Scheffler.
