2023 Sentry Tournament Odds with Scheffler Value
PGA Tour Tees Off in Hawaii

Jon Rahm tops the Sentry Tournament Odds for the first PGA Tour tournament of the year where Scottie Scheffler is a good bet.
Kapalua hosts the Tournament of Champions, which features an excellent field of American and international golfing stars.
Given the American’s excellent record in Hawaii, we’re backing them to win.

Scheffler Eyes Early Win
Scheffler hasn’t triumphed since winning The Masters Tournament in April 2022, but he has been playing well recently, so we’re backing him to win the Tournament of Champions.
Later in the year, his confidence suffered, but he was one of the most reliable golfers in 2022, and we have little doubt that he will win many PGA Tour events in 2023.
He quickly rose to the top ranking last year after picking up four victories in a short period of time, and although he hasn’t been a good bet in tournament winner markets since, we like his Sentry Tournament odds of +1100.
The American did not like being in second place at the Hero World Challenge behind Viktor Hovland, which was his third second-place finish in 2022.
“I said earlier in the week that I don’t like finishing second,” Scheffler said. “It’s not a good feeling right now, but I’m proud of the fight.”
The American is still one of the best players in the world and there’s a case for him being the favorite. Golf odds this week have only Rahm at single-figure odds, which is a surprising betting market.
Finau Found Form
Much like Scheffler, the floodgates opened for Tony Finau in the backend of 2022.
He scored three victories, including the 3M Open, Rocket Mortgage Classic, and the Houston Open. Those are some tough tournaments, especially the Rocket Mortgage Classic, where he beat Patrick Cantlay and Cameron Young.
“As a five-time PGA Tour champion, Finau should be well-suited to the Kapalua conditions. The circumstances should be similar since he won the Puerto Rico Open in 2016, which is encouraging and the +1600 Sentry Tournament odds are on the generous side.”
He’s one of the in-form players on the PGA Tour and his golf betting stats read well. He was one of the best bets on the tour last year and we don’t think 2023 will be much different.
Thomas Eyes Third Win
Justin Thomas is seeking his third win at the Tournament of Champions and we’re not leaving him off our ticket.
He defeated Hideki Matsuyama by three strokes in 2017 for his first victory and he triumphed once again in a playoff over Patrick Reed and Xander Schauffele in 2020.
The 15-time PGA Tour champion didn’t win any regular PGA Tour tournaments last year, but he won the 2022 PGA Championship, so that counts for plenty and he has been respected with Sentry Tournament odds.
“Bettors get +1100 odds for Thomas, who loves the conditions at Kapalua and he’ll have no problem with handling the wind.”
It’s also a course that can play easily if the conditions are right. Thomas knows how to go deep, so that’s another positive.
Zalatoris Back From Injury
Will Zalatoris is back from a serious back injury, and although he might need time under his belt, he’s worth a bet.
His 2022 golf season was filled with thrilling finishes in big tournaments, but an injury in August forced him to miss time. Two herniated discs in his lower back were the cause, which has caused trepidation with Sentry Tournament odds.
“The 26-year-old is a +3300 chance to hit the ground running and we can’t leave him out of selections. He’s too talented to leave out and we expect his injury to be fully healed, otherwise, he wouldn’t be teeing it up at Kapalua.”
