US Open Golf Odds: McIlroy Heading Up

Money Moves Come for Recent Winner

The Country Club hosts the third major of the year and US Open golf odds are available for the biggest names in the sport.

Rory McIlroy is all the rage following his win at the Canadian Open his US Open odds to win has been slashed into outright favoritism.

Bettors get excellent value throughout betting markets and it should be another fantastic edition of the U.S. Open.

Back-to-Back for McIlroy

McIlroy won the RBC Canadian Open in fine style last week and he’s good enough to win consecutive tournaments.

Having not won a major since 2014 plays on the mind of the Northern Irishman, who still has time to secure many more major victories. He is always around the mark and he’s a two-time winner this season, so there’s nothing wrong with his form.

Despite his comments about the LIV Tour dominating the headlines, McIlroy is as focused as they come. He made a point to Greg Norman about overtaking him in total career victories, which was good to see.

“Yeah, I’m pretty sure what’s going to happen over the final 18 holes here is going to be more entertaining than what other golf was played this week anywhere else,” McIlroy told Golf.com.

“Twenty-first PGA Tour win, one more than someone else. That gave me a little extra incentive today.”

US Open golf odds have McIlroy at +900, and although it’s shorter than what bettors could have locked in last week, we wouldn’t leave him off our tickets.

Don’t Doubt DJ

Dustin Johnson isn’t the most popular guy in the sport after making a huge effort to join the LIV Tour, however, given the money waived in his face, we don’t blame him.

Whatever your thoughts about Johnson, he’s still a good shot to win the U.S. Open and he’s a value pick when betting on the US Open.

Johnson hasn’t been in excellent form over the last few months and he didn’t make an impression in London last week, but he’s a major winner and most players in the 2022 field don’t have that experience.

The smooth swinging American doesn’t let many things phase him and that’s his biggest asset. He won’t have the Brookline crowd on his side and it could get to an inexperienced player, but The Master’s winner will take it in his stride.

We can only imagine the reception should Johnson win the U.S. Open, but we can’t overlook his price. His US Open golf odds are +2800, which is worth snapping up for a player who used to pay around +1200 in betting markets.

Thomas at His Best

Justin Thomas is back to his best after winning the PGA Championship and following it up with a third placing at last week’s Canadian Open.

He has got his swagger back and that’s bad news for the rest of the field who are trying to stop the +1200 chance.

Following his third-place finish at the Canadian Open, the American was another firmer with golf odds. He is the second-best wagering option at +1200 to win consecutive majors and we expect more money to come for him throughout the week.

He is another golfer who has been vocal about the LIV Tour, but we’re hoping he doesn’t lose too much sleep.

“It’s a bummer,” Thomas said. “I’ve thought a lot about it, and people are entitled to choose as they wish. I don’t dislike DJ now. I don’t think he’s a bad dude. I’m not going to treat him any differently. He’s entitled to choose as he wishes.”

His US Open golf odds are on the mark and Thomas has every chance of succeeding.
