Winners of Golf Majors: Celebrating the Champions of the Fairways
Koepka Joined an Elite List

Brooks Koepka added his name to an impressive list of winners of golf majors who have won five or more.
His victory at the PGA Championship had plenty of significance, and his golf odds have firmed for the Open Championship in July.
We look at some of the biggest names on the winners of golf majors list, which is headed by Jack Nicklaus.
Koepka Joins Seve
With his win at Oak Hill on the weekend, the American star joined the likes of Seve Ballesteros and Peter Thompson with five major titles.
It was his third PGA Championship victory, and his first since joining LIV, so it was a monumental occasion.
It puts him one win above rival Rory McIlroy and one behind the likes of fellow LIV golfer Phil Mickelson, Nick Faldo, and Lee Trevino.
Many believe Koepka will go on to win many more majors should he stay healthy, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see him challenge the likes of Arnold Palmer and the great Bobby Jones with seven.
Short game coach Pete Cowen was happy to see him back in winning form on the big stage.
“I believed he could come back because he has always been comfortable in uncomfortable situations. He looks as though he is going to beat you now, when he is coming down the stretch. He is not frightened of working, that’s for sure, and he couldn’t work when he was injured,” Cowen said.
Golf betting this week has Koepka at +700 to win the LIV DC Tournament, but given his celebrations, it could be tough to back it up.
McIlroy Left Chasing
For a long time, Rory McIlroy was seen as the only golfer capable of chasing down either Tiger Woods or Nicklaus.
Getting to those levels seems impossible now for the Northern Irishman, who remains on four wins with winners of golf majors, and he hasn’t won since 2014.
He is the face of the PGA Tour, but not winning a major for almost 10 years is adding to the pressure, and with Koepka passing him, he’s facing even more pressure.
A T7 finish at the PGA Championship was a solid result, but after winning four majors very early in his career, the world was his oyster.
He’s still on four majors, and in danger of remaining on that number for years to come.
He’s still the favorite to win the Open Championship in July, but if he doesn’t produce the goods there, it could be a long road for McIlroy.
Tiger’s Chase Comes Short?
It was almost a lock for Tiger Woods to pass Nicklaus for most golf majors, but we can’t see him winning more than 15.
We didn’t see him winning the Masters in 2019 either, but Woods’ best days are well behind him, and his personal troubles caught up to him in a big way.
Injuries and off-course problems put an end to his competitive days, which is sad to see. However, there’s no doubting his legacy when it comes to winning majors.
When people talk about winners of golf majors, most say Woods straight off the bat. His performances were electric, and the sportsbook often had Woods paying short odds to win.
He might make a miraculous comeback, but for now, Woods sits firmly in the number one position behind the Golden Bear.
