Horse Racing: Market Mover Headlines Belmont Stakes Race

Belmont Always a Fan Favorite

The betting market has been released for the Belmont Stakes Race which is the final race of the Triple Crown.

There have been serious betting moves for current favorite ‘We The People’, which could continue to firm throughout the week for the New York feature race.

Eyes will also be on Kentucky Derby winner ‘Rich Strike’, who is paying generous each-way odds.

Money Moves for Favorite

‘We The People’ has been smashed in betting markets and it’s a little surprising. We The People’s odds for the 2022 Belmont Stakes have dropped from +450 to +275, which you don’t see often from a first-time Triple-Crown race contender.

The 3-year-old ‘Son of Constitution’ did not compete in the Kentucky Derby or Preakness Stakes, so he is a first-time Triple Crown contender, but that hasn’t stopped bettors.

He won the Peter Pan Stakes for Rodolphe Brisset after a disappointing performance in the Arkansas Derby behind Cyberknife, Barber Road, and Secret Oath. Secret Oath has since franked her form, but it wasn’t the best form guide for the colts.

There’s little doubting his potential. His run in the Peter Pan Stakes was excellent and it can be a solid form guide for the Belmont Stakes.

Horse racing results since have been good out of that race, which is why bettors have climbed into the odds.

Sticking with Derby Winner

Only one runner in the Belmont Stakes has a Kentucky Derby win to his name and that’s Rich Strike.

The son of Keen Ice won the Kentucky Derby on the inside of race favorite Epicenter, who appeared to have the race won halfway down the stretch. It bodes well for Rich Strike, who was the best at hitting the line strongly.

Rising in distance shouldn’t be an issue, and trainer Eric Reed is upbeat about the third leg.

“We backed him up a half a mile today and tomorrow we’ll probably let him have another two-mile gallop,” Reed said. “He’s definitely enjoying himself and came back really perky. He’s appreciating everything.”

Rich Strike is currently paying +475 to win the Belmont Stakes Race and that’s a fair price. Results of the Belmont Stakes can often go the way of the Kentucky Derby winner and Rich Strike is good enough to achieve the feat.

New Kid on the Block

Creative Minister comes off a third placing in the Preakness Stakes behind Early Voting and Epicenter, which can’t be overlooked.

The son of Creative Cause won three consecutive races before finishing second in the Preakness, so his form is tidy and he has been backed at each-way odds.

He’s been backed into +675 and has a good chance of winning again. His recent work was encouraging and it bodes well for a top-three finish.

“It was uncomplicated,” McPeek said Creative Minister going 50.33 over the main track. “He did it well with no problem. He jumped into the feed tub after the work.”

We wouldn’t be overlooking his chances and he’s good enough to upset the favorites in the Belmont Stakes Race. It could pay to watch for any late betting moves on race day.
