Jack Christopher Headlines Haskell Stakes Horse Race

Eight Runners Line Up in the Grade I Feature

The Haskell Stakes horse race has attracted a field of eight for the feature race at Monmouth Park on Saturday, including Jack Christopher and Taiba.

There are odds throughout the market and those who bet on horse race will love the value available.

It could emerge as a match race between the favorites but White Abarrio and Cyberknife could have something to say about that.

Unbeaten Streak on the Line

We think Jack Christopher could have been a strong contender for the Triple Crown had he not suffered a setback.

The 3-year-old colt by Munnings is unbeaten after four starts, including wins in the Grade I Champagne Stakes and Woody Stephens. His most recent win came over Pappacap, so the form checks out.

The world is his oyster and we’re not surprised that Haskell Stakes horse racing betting markets opened him as the favorite. He’s a class act and trainer Chad Brown says he’s in good order.

“He’s exceptional,” Brown said. “It’s going to be a tough race with some real solid horses in there but I believe he can handle it.”

He has never been around two turns, which is the only danger with the favorite. However, he’s a professional colt who shouldn’t let it worry him.

“We planned to run two turns in the Breeders’ Cup last year, so it’s all about timing and here we are,” Brown added.

Haskell Stakes odds have Jack Christopher on the first line of betting and he’ll take a power of beating.

Taiba Looking to Rebound

Taiba attracted a lot of betting support in the Kentucky Derby when running 12th, but despite the disappointing effort, the race wasn’t run to suit.

The well-bred son of Gun Runner has been kept safe on the second line of betting for the Haskell Stakes horse race and that’s a good sign.

It shows that he has been working well and he could bring the form that saw him win the Santa Anita Derby in April. If that Taiba turns up at Monmouth Park on Saturday, Jack Christopher has a fight on his hands.

Bob Baffert lines up the colt and assistant trainer Jimmy Barnes is excited about his prospect.

“He looks beautiful,” Barnes said. “He really looks great. Everything went well. He has done all of his work.

“It’s just a matter of getting him familiarized with the track. The serious work is over. Right now we just want to get him acclimated to the track.”

Haskell Stakes odds have Taiba at 7-5 and it could pay to watch for any late betting moves with the second elect.

Cyberknife and White Abarrio a Threat

Cyberknife and White Abarrio ran in the Kentucky Derby, and although they ran down the track, their follow-up runs were tidy.

White Abarrio finished second in the Ohio Derby behind Tawny Port, so that was a nice bounce back after finishing 16th in the Derby. Prior to the Derby, the son of Race Day won the Florida Derby, so the form stacks up well.

Cyberknife went one better when winning the Matt Winn at Churchill Downs. It was only a grade III contest but he got the better of Howling Time and Rattle N Roll, so it’s another solid form race.

Haskell Stakes horse race odds have them in the market at each-way odds. We wouldn’t be surprised to see either thoroughbred win the feature race, so bettors shouldn’t overlook the upset dangers.

White Abarrio is currently paying +400 and Cyberknife +500. The better value is with Cyberknife, who has shown enough throughout his career to suggest he can win Grade I races regularly.
