Madrid vs Betis Head-to-Head
This has been a draw heavy matchup lately. The last two La Liga fixtures between Real Madrid and Real Betis, and four of the last six, have finished all square. Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last seven games vs. Betis but have only won one of the last six at the Bernabeu. Betis are an impressive 2-3-1 in their last six games on the road at Real Madrid. Los Blancos did manage to defeat Real Betis 2-1 at home last season, though, as Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo scored. This season’s reverse fixture in Seville finished 1-1 and the Real Madrid vs Real Betis odds priced a draw at +290.
Real Madrid Resting Star Players
Real Madrid led 4-1 heading into half time at Villarreal last Sunday. Turkish wonderkid Arda Guler scored twice as Lucas Vazquez scored and provided two assists. However, Real conceded three unanswered goals in the second half and drew 4-4. Since Los Blancos clinched the title, Carlo Ancelotti has been giving time to players who don’t typically start. Guler has made the most of his opportunities, with four goals in his last three games.
Dani Carvajal, Jude Bellingham, Toni Kroos, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Ferland Mendy all started on the bench at Villarreal. Ancelotti doesn’t want to risk any unnecessary injuries as Real take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League Final on June 1st, so the lineup for the season finale could look similar. The Real Madrid standings are highly impressive, as they’ve lost just once in 37 La Liga matches this season. Plus, they haven’t lost in 90 minutes since September.
Real Madrid did lose to Atletico Madrid in extra time in the Copa del Rey Round of 16 in January but haven’t lost any of their last 46 ninety minute matches. They’ll also want to close out their La Liga campaign with a win in front of their home fans. Aurelien Tchouameni and David Alaba are out with injuries and we won’t know just how many usual starters Ancelotti will rest until around gametime.
Betis Miss Out on Europa League
Real Betis had a chance to move toward Europa League qualification over the weekend but lost 2-0 to direct competitors Real Sociedad. Because of their loss, Real Betis will finish in seventh place in the Spanish La Liga standings, while Sociedad clinched sixth. Betis will play in UEFA Europa Conference League Qualifiers next season but there’s a sense they could have achieved more this season.
This is their lowest league finish since the 2019-20 season, when they finished in 15th. Plus, talisman Isco is injured and will also miss Euro 2024. With not much to play for and a host of injuries, it will be difficult for Manuel Pellegrini’s side to be at their best on Saturday. Betis have conceded twice in each of their last three matches and have just a +3 goal difference this campaign.
Los Verdiblancos are just 5-7-6 on the road this season and haven’t beaten a top four team all season long. Along with Isco, Guido Rodriguez, German Pezzella, Cedric Bakambu and Chimy Avila could all miss out on Saturday’s match. In any case, Ayoze Perez has been Real Betis’ main goal threat in recent weeks with three goals in his last four games.
