Sunday officially marks the end of an era for Barcelona. The last remaining holdovers from the legendary early and mid-2010s teams are set to leave the club after Barcelona’s season finale vs. Celta Vigo. Gerard Pique retired in November, and now Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets are leaving Barcelona.

Alba was a dependable left back for Barça for over a decade and won an incredible 17 trophies with the Catalan club. That includes six La Liga titles and a UEFA Champions League. We’ll look at Jordi Alba’s stats from his Barcelona career.

Recap of Alba’s Barcelona Career

Jordi Alba, a member of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, returned to Barça in 2012 from Valencia. Barcelona signed him on the back of some excellent performances at Euro 2012 for Spain. Alba won the La Liga title in his first season at Barcelona and made 27 league starts.

Barcelona also finished first in the La Liga standings in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019 with Alba as their starting left back. Alba also started in the 2015 Champions League final, which Barcelona won over Juventus. That year, he made the Champions League and La Liga teams of the La Liga season.

Alba won five Copa del Reys with Barcelona and the 2015 Club World Cup. The left back was renowned for his marauding runs down the flank. He registered at least five league assists in seven straight seasons from 2015-16 to 2021-22. Jordi Alba’s stats were quite impressive in the 2021-22 season.

He was third in the La Liga stats, with 10 assists, and registered his most-ever goal contributions in a season, with 12. In Barcelona’s 2022-23 title run, Alba has made 14 La Liga starts and led the league with 0.43 expected assists per 90 minutes.

Jordi Alba has made over 450 official appearances for Barcelona and scored 27 goals. Five of those goals came in the 2020-21 season. Even at age 34, Jordi Alba’s stats imply he is still a top-level attacking full back.

He ranks in the 99th percentile among left back for progressive passes, progressive passes received, expected assists, and passes attempted. In the 2021-22 season, Alba led the league in progressive passes. He also led La Liga in plus-minus in 2018-19 and 2020-21.

Alba’s best Barcelona season was arguably the 2018-19 season, where he made a career-high 36 league appearances. He scored two goals and provided eight assists in La Liga as Barcelona won the La Liga title. Alba will be remembered as a dependable left back who was one of the best fullbacks of his generation.

Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets could feature as Barcelona head on the road to Celta Vigo on Sunday. Barcelona are +130 road favorites for the season finale. Alba still seems to have a few years left in him, and rumors are already swirling about his next club. Allegedly, Alba can earn a lot of money playing in Saudi Arabia. Three high-level European teams reportedly want him as well. They include Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Manchester United.
