La Liga Matchday 14 Fixtures & Odds

Final Matches Before World Cup

Pique’s Last Match Before Retirement

It’s the final La Liga Matchday before teams break for the World Cup. To no one’s surprise, either Real Madrid or Barcelona will end 2022 at the top of the table. Still, with Sevilla’s demise, we’ll likely see a new top four for the first time in four seasons. Barcelona legend Gerard Pique will also be retiring this week, which signifies the end of an era. We’ll take a look at Osasuna vs. Barcelona and other La Liga Matchday 14 fixtures and odds

Game of the Week:

Game Information

Game: Osasuna vs Barcelona
Date & Time:
Location: Estadio El Sadar, Pamplona

Gerard Pique said an emotional goodbye to the Camp Nou as Barcelona defeated Almeria 2-0 on Saturday. The center back won eight La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues in 14 seasons at Barcelona. He’ll travel to Pamplona to take on Osasuna in what will be his last match in professional football. Even out of context, this is by far the La Liga 14 Matchday fixture.

Osasuna have been La Liga’s biggest surprise this season. They’re in fifth place through 13 matches and are unbeaten in their last four games. Barcelona may have crashed out of the Champions League last week but they’ve been excellent in La Liga this season. The Catalan club has conceded just four goals in La Liga so far. That’s even with significant center back rotation due to injuries. Goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has been immense and kept shutouts in 11 matches.

The La Liga betting odds price Barcelona at -200 odds to get a fifth straight win on Tuesday. Osasuna have drawn two of their last three home matches vs. Barcelona but haven’t won in this fixture since 2012.

A draw is priced at +355 odds and Osasuna are +550 underdogs. Barcelona also show +140 odds to keep a shutout in Pique’s last match.

Other Matches of Note:

Game Information: Sevilla vs Real Sociedad
Date & Time:

Sevilla’s season has been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster so far. They’ve won just two of their first 13 matches and are only outside of the relegation zone on goal difference. Sevilla have been one of La Liga’s best teams over the last few seasons, which makes their swift downfall puzzling. At least they’ll be playing in the Europa League come 2023, which will offer a route back into the Champions League.

After a 1-1 draw vs. Real Betis in the Seville Derby, Sevilla host Real Sociedad on Wednesday. Sociedad also drew 1-1 on Sunday, vs. Valencia. Both teams have players suspended for one of the more interesting La Liga Matchday 14 fixtures. Defender Aritz Elustondo is out for Real Sociedad and Gonzalo Montiel is out for Sevilla. It could be a big boost for Sevilla to get Isco back from suspension, though. In this pick’em Sevilla show +155 odds to win, while Real Sociedad sit at +190.

Game Information: Mallorca vs Atletico Madrid
Date & Time:

With wins over both Villarreal and Valencia in recent weeks, Mallorca have been climbing up the La Liga table. In one of the better La Liga Matchday 14 fixtures, they take on Atletico Madrid on Wednesday. Mallorca right back, Pablo Maffeo, and manager Javier Aguirre are serving the back end of a two-match suspension in this one. Despite Aguirre’s absence from the touchline, Mallorca managed a 2-0 win over Villarreal on Sunday.

Only five teams have conceded fewer goals than Mallorca this season. They haven’t conceded more than one goal in a match for two months and Atletico show -180 odds to score one goal or fewer. Diego Simeone’s Atletico are displaying worrying form in recent weeks. They haven’t won in any of their last four matches, in all competitions, but are +110 favorites. Mallorca won both meetings last season and sit at +290 odds to win once again.

Game Information: Real Madrid vs Cadiz
Date & Time:

One would think facing Cadiz on the La Liga schedule would be no problem for Real Madrid, however, 19th place Cadiz have only lost one of their last five matches. It’s also been tough for Real Madrid without Karim Benzema in recent weeks; however, the Ballon d’Or winner is expected to return on Thursday after missing Monday’s match at Rayo Vallecano.

Interestingly, both meetings finished in draws last season. Real had already wrapped up the title in the match at Cadiz in May but Cadiz did impressively get a draw at the Santiago Bernabeu. A third straight draw sits at just +800 odds and Real are -775 favorites. Cadiz, who have lost just once in the last four meetings, are priced at +2000 odds. Real Madrid are certainly expected to go into the World Cup break on a high note and are unbeaten at home this season.
