Barcelona Clash With Resurgent Sevilla

Barcelona went five points clear at the top of the La Liga table with a win over Girona and a Real Madrid draw vs. Real Sociedad. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid play midweek. Following their matches, Barcelona host a resurgent Sevilla side and Real Madrid desperately need a win at Mallorca this weekend. Third-placed Real Sociedad can also solidify their Champions League hopes by getting a result vs. Valladolid. Atletico Madrid will also go for a third straight win vs. a struggling Getafe. It’s another great week in La Liga and we’re here to take a look at the La Liga Matchday 20 odds.
Games of the Week
Mallorca vs Real Madrid
Date & Time:
Real Madrid are 9-1 in their last 10 matches vs. Mallorca and a bunch of them haven’t been particularly close. Los Blancos head into this match on a four-game winning streak vs. Mallorca and have outscored them 15-2 in the process. After falling behind 1-0 in the reverse fixture, Real scored four unanswered goals to win 4-1.
Real were without Karim Benzema in that one so Mallorca figure to have some defense worries here. Mallorca are in a respectable 10th place in the La Liga standings but Real Madrid are -140 road favorites here.
Los Blancos’ ATS and moneyline odds are the same heading into this match. Depending on fitness, Real could get all of Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Aurélien Tchouaméni back for this match.
Real Madrid were without a traditional right back vs. Real Sociedad over the weekend as Nacho filled in, in the 0-0 draw. Notably, Real get just two days of rest in between Thursday’s match vs. Valencia and their trip to Mallorca. That presents an opportunity for Mallorca, who are +410 underdogs. Mallorca +½ shows +120 odds and a first draw in this fixture since 2010 displays +250 odds.
Scoring has been a huge problem for Mallorca this season. They have just 15 goals in 19 games. Kosovar forward Vedat Muriqi has scored eight of them and the last time Mallorca scored twice in a La Liga match was in November; however, they have done well on defense and conceded fewer than a goal per game.
They did concede twice in a loss to Cadiz last weekend, though. Real are certainly expected to get on the board in this one but under 2½ goals for the match comes in at -140 odds.
Barcelona vs Sevilla
Date & Time:
This is expected to be one of the best La Liga fixtures of the weekend. After spending time in the relegation zone earlier this season, Sevilla have won three of their last four matches under Jorge Sampaoli.
Striker Youssef En-Nesyri nearly signed for Nice but he stayed put and scored a brace in a 3-0 win vs. Elche last weekend. Sevilla are on a 12-match scoring streak, in all competitions, but that’ll certainly be put to the test vs. Barcelona.
Through 18 matches, Barcelona have incredibly only conceded six La Liga goals. Marc-Andre ter Stegen has kept 14 clean sheets and no other keeper has more than eight this season.
Barcelona are unbeaten at the Camp Nou in La Liga this season and are 1½-favorites for this match. FCB head to Real Betis on Wednesday and are -300 favorites to defeat Sevilla on Sunday. Barça -1½ shows -105 odds while Sevilla +1½ comes in at -115 odds.
Barcelona are unbeaten in the last 14 La Liga meetings but did lose 2-0 to Sevilla in the 2021 Copa del Rey semifinals.
Barça cruised to a 3-0 win in the reverse fixture earlier this season and Sevilla show just +750 odds to get a win here. Meanwhile, a draw is priced at +440 odds. With how excellent Barcelona’s defense has been, under three goals displays -120 odds for Sunday’s match.
Ousmane Dembele will certainly be missed for Barcelona. The winger has had a highly productive season but is expected to miss around a month with a thigh injury. With options like Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati up front, Barcelona should be fine in the meantime. Former Sevilla winger Bryan Gil is back with the club on loan from Tottenham and it remains to be seen if he’ll play a part here.
Sevilla also took Marseille midfielder Pape Gueye on loan before deadline day.
Other Matches to Watch
Atletico Madrid vs Getafe
Date & Time:
Atletico Madrid may have lost to rivals Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey quarters but they’ve won their last two La Liga matches. They got a solid 1-0 road win at Osasuna last weekend as Saul Niguez scored the game’s only goal.
World cup winner Rodrigo de Paul made his first start since the World Cup in the match. Having him fully fit will be a huge boost for Diego Simeone.
Fourth-placed Atletico take on Getafe, who are in the relegation zone, on Saturday. La Liga Matchday 20 odds list Atletico Madrid as one-goal home favorites.
Los Colchoneros have kept two straight clean sheets and sit at -135 odds to cover the spread and -240 odds to win. Meanwhile, Getafe have lost four consecutive La Liga matches.
They’ve kept all of them close, though, only losing by a one-goal margin in each. Still, they sit at just +115 odds to cover the spread and +850 odds to win the match. A draw comes in at +315 odds and over two goals is priced at -120 odds.
Atletico have been quite disappointing at home this season, with just a 4-2-3 record. Meanwhile, Getafe are 2-2-5 on the road.
Real Sociedad vs Valladolid

Real Sociedad’s Alex Remiro was instrumental in holding Real Madrid to a scoreless draw on Sunday. The keeper made big save after big save and now has eight clean sheets on the year. Sociedad are starting to look like serious Champions League contenders and are eight points ahead of fifth-placed Villarreal.
They’ll host Real Valladolid on Sunday, who finally snapped a five-game losing streak last weekend. The La Liga Matchday 20 odds price Real Sociedad as -235 favorites. The Txuri-Urdin also show -145 odds to cover the one-goal spread.
Sociedad are unbeaten in La Liga since October and managed to hold Real Madrid without midfielders Mikel Merino and David Silva. Merino leads the league with seven assists and could be back in time for Sunday’s match. That’s bad news for Valladolid, who are +750 underdogs for the match. Valladolid +1 displays +125 odds and a draw comes in at +325 odds.
Valladolid actually won the reverse fixture, 1-0, but have been dreadful on the road this season. They’re 1-1-7 in nine away games and have scored just five goals in those matches. It’s not exactly surprising that under 2½ goals for the match are priced at -115 odds.
Rayo Vallecano vs Almeria
Date & Time:
Andoni Iraola’s Rayo Vallecano continue to impress. They managed a massive win over Villarreal on Monday as Sergio Camello scored the game’s only goal. As they push for a European spot, they’ll take on Almeria for another Monday match.
Almeria are unbeaten in their last three matches and have climbed up to 11th place in the table. Francisco Portillo has come on as a sub and scored in consecutive matches. Almeria have also found the net in 10 of their last 12 matches.
Regardless, Rayo Vallecano sit at -135 ATS and moneyline odds for this match. They’ve won just four of their nine home matches this season, though. Even so, Almeria have been one of the league’s worst road teams, with a 0-3-6 record. Almeria +½ shows +115 odds and they come in at +375 odds to get their first road win of the season. Almeria did manage to win the reverse fixture, 3-1. None of Rayo’s last three matches have gone over 2½ goals and the under comes in at -125 odds here.
