La Liga Matchday 31 Odds, Preview

Betis and Sociedad Duke it Out in UCL Race

Barcelona Extend Unbeaten Run

In a match between two of Spain’s biggest clubs, Barcelona edged out Atletico Madrid 1-0 on La Liga Matchday 30. It certainly doesn’t look like any team will be catching Barcelona, as they maintain an 11-point lead. They’ve gone seven games without a loss ahead of their midweek match at Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday. All of La Liga’s teams will be in action during the week, as Real Betis also host Real Sociedad in an important match for the Champions League race. We’ll cover these La Liga Matchday 31 odds in more in this week’s preview.

Games of the Week

GIRGirona vs Real MadridRMA

Day/Time: Location: Montilivi

Real Madrid capped off an excellent week with a 2-0 win vs Celta Vigo. Just a few days earlier, Los Blancos sealed a place in the UCL Semifinal with a 4-0 aggregate win over Chelsea. Real have won their last four matches, in all competitions, by a 2-0 scoreline ahead of Tuesday’s match at Girona. While Real has scored the most goals in La Liga this season, Girona is fourth in the scoring charts. This has the potential to be a goal-fest but under three goals show -125 odds for Tuesday’s match. Real is currently in second place in the La Liga standings, while Girona is in 11th.

Previously on a four-match unbeaten run, Girona lost 1-0 at Valladolid on Saturday. It was the third time in the last six matches that they failed to score. While Girona has picked up draws vs Real Madrid and Barcelona this season, they’re yet to defeat a team in La Liga’s top four. Currently, the odds price Real Madrid as one-goal road favorites at -115 odds to cover the spread. Girona is +475 underdogs but has the fifth-best record in the league when playing at home. The hosts also come in at -105 odds to cover the spread.

With the form Real are in right now, no team is looking forward to a match vs. them. The front line of Vinicius Jr., Karim Benzema, and Rodrygo has been the most prolific in the league this season. So, it’s not a surprise that Carlo Ancelotti’s team sits at -180 odds to win Tuesday’s match. The last time these teams met, it finished in a 1-1 draw. Another one displays +335 odds but Real are attempting to keep their title hopes alive here.

RBBReal Betis vs Real SociedadRSO

Day/Time: Location: Benito Villamarín

This match is perhaps the most consequential one of the weekend. Real Betis enter this week in fifth place, six points behind Sociedad, who are in fourth. A Betis win would mean they’re only three points outside of the fourth and final Champions League place. Meanwhile, if Sociedad can snag a win on the road, it’ll exponentially boost their UCL hopes. Sociedad did come back to defeat a tough Rayo Vallecano side on Saturday just as Betis lost 3-2 to Osasuna. The La Liga Matchday 31 odds imply that Betis are somewhat unlikely to bounce back and get all three points.

The hosts come in as 0.5-goal underdogs but do show -145 odds to cover the spread. Real Betis have also lost three of their last four matches in the league and are priced at +225 underdogs to get a win here. Betis have been dreadful over the last couple of months. They’ve won just two of nine matches, in all competitions, since the beginning of March. On the other hand, Sociedad has lost two of their last four matches. They show +125 odds to cover and get a ninth road win of the season. Alexander Sorloth also scored his tenth goal in La Liga this season on Sunday and leads Sociedad.

Interestingly, Sociedad has not won any of the last six meetings between the sides, in all competitions. Real Betis won the reverse fixture 2-0 behind late goals from Juan Cruz and Borja Iglesias. Betis also demolished Real Sociedad 4-0 at home in the 2021-22 season. Regardless, a draw displays +230 odds, and over two goals come in at -135 odds here.

ATMAtletico Madrid vs MallorcaMLL

Day/Time: Location: Civitas Metropolitan Stadium

Barcelona snapped Atletico Madrid’s six-game winning streak over the weekend. Still, Diego Simeone’s side has been playing with a lot of confidence lately. They’re implied to be more likely than not to get back in the win column when they host Mallorca on Wednesday. However, this has been a nightmare fixture for Atletico as of late. Mallorca has won the last three meetings and will try to extend the streak vs Atletico to four for the first time since 1999.

Mallorca has also been in decent form as of late, with consecutive wins. Lee Kang-in scored twice as Mallorca defeated Getafe 3-1 on Matchday 30. In Kang-in, Vedat Muriqi, and Tino Kadewere, Mallorca have some talented attacking players. However, only five teams have scored fewer times than they have this season. The La Liga betting odds price Atletico Madrid at -230 odds to win on Wednesday and break Mallorca’s four-game unbeaten streak. Atleti -1 shows -135 odds, while Mallorca +1 sits at +115. Although Mallorca has had Atletico’s number lately, they’re +775 moneyline underdogs.

None of the last five meetings between these teams have finished in draws and a tie displays +320 odds. Atleti will get midfielders Marcos Llorente and Geoffrey Kondogbia back from suspension for this one. Although that’s a boost, Memphis Depay remains out and missed Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Barcelona. Just two of Mallorca’s last seven matches have finished with three or more goals but over two goals stand at -140 odds here.

RVMRayo Vallecano vs BarcelonaBAR

Day/Time: Location: Estadio de Vallecas

Just as Atletico has struggled vs Mallorca, Barcelona can’t seem to get the better of Rayo Vallecano. Madrid’s third-most famous club is unbeaten in their last three meetings with Barcelona. In fact, Rayo has kept shutouts in each of those meetings but the La Liga Matchday 31 odds price Barça as 0.5-goal favorites at -125 ATS and moneyline odds. Barcelona has struggled to score against Rayo lately but the reverse could also be true come Wednesday. FCB’s defense has conceded just nine goals in 30 games this season and kept another shutout on Sunday.

Under 2.5 goals sit at -115 odds heading into the match; notably, Barcelona has scored just one goal in their last four matches, in all competitions. Robert Lewandowski still leads La Liga, with 17 goals, but hasn’t scored for over three weeks. Rayo also hasn’t lost a home match since January but is +105 underdogs to cover. They also come in at +345 odds to win the match despite winning two of the last three meetings, however, Barcelona has lost just two matches in La Liga all season. The reverse fixture finished in a scoreless draw and another shows +275 odds.

Barcelona’s Pedri, Andreas Christensen, and Ousmane Dembele all missed Sunday’s match vs Atletico. Pedri and Dembele returned to training last week, though and it’s possible that they can make the Matchday squad. Rayo midfielder Santi Comesana will miss this match due to suspension. Meanwhile, backup striker Radamel Falcao is also out for the hosts.
