La Liga Matchday 34 Odds & Previews for Barcelona, Real Sociedad, and Getafe’s Crucial Matches.

Girona on a Roll

Barcelona One Win From Title

La Liga was off last weekend as Real Madrid won the Copa del Rey final over Osasuna. Regardless, Xavi’s Barcelona are just one win away from winning their first La Liga title in four years. Barça can clinch with a win over local rivals Espanyol on Sunday. Meanwhile, Girona are on a three-game winning streak and still have hopes of making their first-ever appearance in a major European competition. Girona head on the road to Real Sociedad on Saturday, who are in the thick of the Champions League race. We’ll cover Barcelona, Girona, Real Sociedad, and more as we take a look at some of the La Liga Matchday 34 odds.

Games of the Week:

RSOReal Sociedad vs GironaGIR

Day/Time:

Real Sociedad have picked things up lately and are in a position to qualify for their first Champions League in 10 years. Sociedad have conceded just one goal in their last four matches and recently defeated Real Madrid 2-0. The Txuri-Urdin are in fourth place in the Spanish La Liga standings with five matches to play and are seven points ahead of fifth-placed Villarreal. Sociedad takes on Girona on Saturday in a meeting of two of the league’s hottest teams.

After three straight wins, Girona are up to seventh place, which would be their highest-ever finish in La Liga. In fact, that’d be enough for them to make their first-ever appearance in a European competition. With Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey win, the league’s seventh-place team is assured of at least qualifying for the UEFA Europa Conference League. Taty Castellanos has been on an absolute tear for Girona, with six goals in his last three matches. That includes a four-goal outburst vs Real Madrid in April. Despite Girona’s form, the La Liga odds price Real Sociedad as one-goal favorites. Sociedad comes in at +120 odds to cover, while Girona +1 shows -140 odds.

Girona does only have three wins on the road this season and is +425 moneyline underdogs for Saturday’s match. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad is 9-4-3 at home this season and displays -155 odds to win a fifth straight home match. Sociedad has scored twice in their last four home matches but under 2.5 goals sit at -125 odds for this one. The reverse fixture also finished 5-3 in favor of Sociedad. Girona have also averaged two goals per game over their last five and only three teams have scored more than them this season. Lastly, bettors should be aware a draw is priced at +290 odds for Saturday’s clash.

VILLVillarreal vs Athletic ClubATH

Day/Time:

Villarreal and Athletic Club are two more teams with European ambitions. They’ll meet on Saturday as Villarreal try to keep their Champions League hopes alive. It’ll take a big points haul from the last five matches to make that a reality. Fifth-placed Villarreal are currently seven points behind Real Sociedad which makes this a must-win. Athletic Bilbao is in eighth, level on points with Girona but is winless in their last three matches.

The La Liga Matchday 34 odds price Villareal as 0.5-goal favorites at +110 ATS and moneyline odds. They drew 1-1 at Valencia last Wednesday but have won each of their last three home matches, averaging 3.3 goals per game in the process. Nicolas Jackson has found the net in each of Villarreal’s last three matches as well. Athletic Club has been one of the better road teams in the league this season with a 6-5-5 record. In fact, they haven’t lost a league match on the road since February. Bilbao +0.5 currently shows -130 odds, while they are +240 road underdogs.

While Villarreal has all of their key players available, Athletic Club may be missing some rotation pieces. Defender Dani Vivian is suspended, which is an issue because Yeray Alvarez and Inigo Martinez are both dealing with injuries. Captain Iker Muniain has also missed the last four matches and is questionable for this one. Notably, Athletic Bilbao is unbeaten in the last eight meetings of this fixture. Five of those have finished in draws and another sits at +260 odds. With Villarreal scoring in bunches at home lately, over 2.5 goals are priced at -115 odds. The Yellow Submarine have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six La Liga matches.

RMAReal Madrid vs GetafeGTF

Day/Time:

Real Madrid picked up a draw in the first leg of their Champions League Semifinal vs Manchester City on Tuesday. Vinicius Jr. scored a screamer in the first half and Man City equalized in the second through an equally impressive Kevin de Bruyne goal. With Real Madrid out of the La Liga title race, the UCL will certainly take precedence over their match vs Getafe on Saturday. While Real does have not much left to play for in La Liga, this is a crucial match for Getafe.

Getafe, located less than 10 miles away from Madrid, is in 18th place in the La Liga standings. They will almost certainly escape the relegation zone with a win here and even a point could do wonders. However, leading goalscorer Enes Unal is suspended for the match, along with starting defender Damian Suarez. Getafe is a 1.5-goal underdog but shows -140 odds to cover. Their last win at the Santiago Bernabeu came in 2008 and Getafe are +650 underdogs for Saturday’s match.

Real Madrid -1.5 comes in at +120 odds as right-back Dani Carvajal is suspended. Real are also -250 favorites and defeated Getafe 1-0 in the reverse fixture. In the last nine meetings, Real have conceded just one goal to Getafe. None of the last six meetings have finished with three or more goals. Regardless, over 2.5 goals sit at -140 odds. A draw also displays +410 odds in this crucial match for Getafe.

ESPEspanyol vs BarcelonaBAR

Day/Time:

Barcelona have the opportunity to seal the La Liga title at the home of one of their rivals. The RCDE Stadium is only a few miles away from Camp Nou and there should be plenty of Barcelona fans in attendance on Sunday. This Derbi Barcelona is massive for Barça but it’s just as important for Espanyol. RCD Espanyol is in 19th place and is desperately attempting to exit the relegation zone. With a lot at stake for both teams, let’s take a look at the La Liga Matchday 34 odds for this game.

Barcelona is a one-goal favorite for Sunday’s match but has drawn three of their last five matches vs Espanyol. A draw stands at +300 odds here and it’d only be enough to win the title if Atletico Madrid also draw or lose at last-placed Elche. Each of the last five Derbi barceloní has finished in a draw or been decided by a single goal. So, it’s not a surprise that Barcelona -1 comes in at just +125 odds. Meanwhile, Espanyol +1 shows -145 odds but the hosts haven’t defeated Barcelona in La Liga since 2009. Espanyol’s moneyline odds are +400, while Barcelona is priced at -145 odds to win and automatically clinch the La Liga title.

Xavi’s side have been defensively dominant this season and have conceded just 11 league goals in 33 matches. Goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen leads the league with a ridiculous 25 clean sheets. Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski is on pace to win the Golden Boot, with 19 goals. As long as Barcelona don’t concede seven or more goals in their last five matches, they will break the record for the fewest goals conceded in a La Liga season. Meanwhile, only three teams have conceded more than Espanyol this season. In a highly consequential match, over 2.5 goals display -130 odds.
