2024 Ligue 1 Season Odds: Can PSG Win Without Mbappe?

Marseille Aggressively Chasing PSG

PSG Still Dominant Force In French Soccer

Even without Kylian Mbappe, PSG have plenty of talent on their roster to win a fourth straight Ligue 1 title. In his first season in Paris, Luis Enrique lost just two league matches and his PSG will be looking to stay on top even without their all-time leading scorer, who left for Real Madrid.

With Marseille’s aggressive transfer strategy and some other dark horse teams, we’ll see PSG’s chances to win Ligue 1 again. Read on for the outright 2024 Ligue 1 season odds.

Favorites

PSG may have lost Kylian Mbappe for nothing this Summer but they’re still well-positioned to be the best team in Ligue 1 this season. Warren Zaire-Emery was the league’s Young Player of the Season, while Gianluigi Donnarumma was the best keeper in the division.

The Parisians have also wrapped up the signing of midfielder Joao Neves from Benfica and still have attacking players like Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembele, Goncalo Ramos, and Randal Kolo Muani.

In 2023-24, PSG beat Monaco to the league title by nine points, scoring 13 more goals than any other team. Mbappe or not, PSG have the league’s biggest budget by far and they’re -400 favorites to win Ligue 1 for a fourth straight season. PSG kick off their 2024-25 Ligue 1 schedule next Friday on the road at Le Havre.

Top Challengers

Olympique Marseille seem to be deeply dissatisfied with last season’s eighth-place finish. They hired Roberto De Zerbi from Brighton to be their coach and have been spending nearly as much as rivals PSG.

Marseille brought on the controversial Mason Greenwood from Manchester United, along with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Canadian internationals Ismael Kone and Derek Cornelius, and Inter Milan’s Valentin Carboni, on loan.

De Zerbi is a progressive manager and he’ll instill his values in this Marseille squad, which should at least compete for a Champions League place. Heading into the 2024-25 campaign, OM show +1000 outright 2024 Ligue 1 season odds.

AS Monaco returned to the Champions League with a second-place finish and 20-7-7 record last season. Adi Hutter will have to manage without former star striker Wissam Ben-Yedder but Monaco will get Breel Embolo back from a serious injury. Plus, they’ll hope Folarin Balogun justifies his transfer fee in his second season in Ligue 1.

Monaco head into the campaign at +1400 outright odds.

Dark Horses

Olympique Lyon shot up the Ligue 1 standings after hiring Pierre Sage midway through last season. OL were in the relegation zone for quite some time but won their final four games of the season and came in sixth place. Alexandre Lacazette had another excellent season, with 19 goals and OL have added Georgian Euro 2024 star Georges Mikautadze to their frontline.

Lyon sit at +2000 odds to win Ligue 1 this season.

Lille show the same odds to win Ligue 1 as Lyon and were the most recent champions not named PSG, in 2020-21. Coach Paulo Fonseca left for AC Milan this Summer, so former Rennes boss Bruno Genesio is now at the helm.

Les Dogues are in the midst of a Champions League Qualifying campaign and defeated Fenerbahce 2-1 in the first leg of the third round. Given Lille’s preseason started earlier than everyone else’s, they could get off to a fast start this season. Jonathan David, who scored 19 goals last season, should be in the Golden Boot race again

Lens (+3300) have been one of the most consistent teams in Ligue 1 over the last few years. A lot of that stability was due to coach Franck Haise, who left for Nice. Now, Will Still is tasked with getting Lens, who finished in seventh place last season, back into the Champions League.

Goalkeeper Brice Samba kept 14 clean sheets last season, while Still will look to unlock striker Elye Wahi’s potential.

Long shots

Rennes have backed Julien Stephan in the transfer market and sit at +4000 preseason France Ligue 1 odds. While they’ve lost Enzo Le Fee, Martin Terrier, Jeanuel Belocian, and Guela Doue, Rennes have signed midfielders Albert Gronbaek and Glen Kamara and defenders Leo Ostigard and Hans Hateboer.

At the very least, we expect Rennes to better their 10th-place finish from 2023-24.

Nice (+4000) had the best defense in the league last season, as they only conceded 29 goals in 34 games. Marcin Bulka kept a league-leading 17 clean sheets but Nice only scored 40 goals and finished in fifth place. Nice haven’t signed a new striker for Franck Haise but Terem Moffi is certainly serviceable.

Reims have spent little money in the transfer market but they are getting back midfielder Kamory Doumbia from a wildly successful loan spell at Brest. Doumbia alone won’t be enough to help Reims challenge for the title, though. They’re currently +5000 long shots.

Eric Roy guided Brest to their first-ever Champions League berth in 2023-24 and replicating their third-place finish in Ligue 1 is going to be incredibly difficult. Loan players like Doumbia, Billal Brahimi, and Martin Satriano are all returning to their respective clubs. Juggling the UCL with Ligue 1 with a thin squad puts Brest at +6600 Ligue 1 outright odds.
