Ligue 1: Lorient vs Monaco Odds

Monaco Becoming Must-Watch Team

League Leaders Monaco Head to Lorient

Monaco has been the most exciting Ligue 1 team in the first few weeks of the 2023-24 season. They’ve scored at least three goals in each match and currently lead the league with a 3-1-0 record. On Sunday, they’ll head to Lorient as Monaco look to stay on top of the table. Lorient, coming off a 3-0 loss at Le Havre, should be motivated for this one. For one of the best Ligue 1 matches of the weekend, let’s check out the Lorient vs Monaco odds.

LOR Lorient vs Monaco MON

Date & Time:
Location: Stade Yves Allainmat-Le Moustoir, Lorient, France

Head-to-Head:

This has been quite a competitive fixture in recent seasons. In the last five Ligue 1 fixtures, both teams have one win, and there have been three draws. Last season, Monaco managed a 3-1 win at home, and the sides drew 2-2 at Lorient.

Inconsistency Holds Back Lorient

FC Lorient went unbeaten in their first three matches of the Ligue 1 season, with a draw vs. PSG in their opening match. They also defeated a solid Lille team 4-1 on Matchday 3. Lorient’s problem under coach Regis Le Bris has been consistency, though. Lorient won eight of their first ten matches in 2022-23, but they only managed to win seven games for the rest of the season.

The inconsistency reared its ugly head as Lorient lost 3-0 to newly promoted Le Havre in their final match before the international break. Le Havre found their way through Lorient’s defense time and time again, and FCL will need to shore things up for their match vs. Monaco. Lorient vs Monaco odds.

For Sunday’s match, FC Lorient are +325 underdogs, but they haven’t lost at home yet this season. Since Terem Moffi departed last season, Lorient haven’t found a prolific striker, but they’re hoping Sirine Doucoure can fill his shoes. So far, he’s scored and assisted this season. Lorient has a few players injured for this match, including Bamba Dieng, Benjamin Mendy, Ayman Kari, and Igor Silva.

Monaco Scoring With Ease

Monaco has easily been one of the most exciting Ligue 1 teams this season. So far, the Monegasques have scored at least three goals in their 2023-24 matches. Monaco defeated Lens 3-0 just before the international break to keep their second shutout of the season. Caio Henrique’s delivery from corners was superb. Wilfried Singo and Guillermo Maripan headed in corners, and Aleksandr Golovin also found the net.

Henrique, Wissam Ben Yedder, and Takumi Minamino have been three of the best Ligue 1 players so far. Henrique leads the league with four assists. Meanwhile, Minamino is first in the league with six goal contributions, and Ben Yedder has scored four goals. Ben Yedder is typically among Ligue 1’s top scorers, which should also be the case this season.

This season, Monaco missed out on European competition altogether. So, their current form could undoubtedly continue with only Ligue 1 to focus on. PSG, who have won the Ligue 1 title for two seasons running, are in the Champions League group of death, with Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Newcastle. So, with a congested fixture schedule, it’s likely that PSG drop some points in Ligue 1 over the next few months. Monaco could be the biggest beneficiary and currently shows +1400 odds to win the title.

Match Analysis & Odds

What immediately stands out on the odds board is over 2.5 goals at -165 odds. Lorient’s defense has proven to be shaky, and Monaco is certainly capable of breaking them down. Again, the Monegasques have scored at least three goals in all their games and show no signs of slowing down. The Lorient vs Monaco odds price the visitors as -120 favorites as they look to stay on top of the league.

Meanwhile, Lorient are +325 underdogs, and a draw shows the same odds. Lorient +0.5, +1 sits at -130 odds for the match, but it’ll be a tough test to shut down Monaco. Even though wunderkind Eliesse Ben Seghir and Breel Embolo are out, Monaco has plenty of firepower.

Monaco -0.5, -1 is priced at even odds for Sunday’s match, and they’ll stay at least two points ahead of PSG and Marseille with a win. Although, the road team hasn’t won any of the last five matches in this fixture.
