Game of the Week
Lens vs. PSG
Date, Time & Streaming:
Paris Saint-Germain will have to make do without both Lionel Messi and Neymar when they head on the road to Lens. Messi’s absence was always expected, as he’ll join back up with his PSG teammates shortly after the New Year. Neymar, on the other hand, picked up two yellow cards in the span of a minute vs. Strasbourg on Wednesday. He was ultimately sent off for diving and PSG had to make do with 10 men for a sizable chunk of the second half. He sparked further controversy by leaving the stadium but manager Christophe Galtier didn’t seem too concerned.
Luckily, Kylian Mbappe returned early from the World Cup and made a surprise start. The France star drew a late penalty and found the back of a net to seal the three points. Defender Marquinhos also scored a goal and an own goal in the 2-1 win. Meanwhile, Lens played in a scoreless draw at Nice on Thursday. The tie ended a five-game Lens winning streak but they’ll certainly relish their chance to hand PSG their first loss of the season.
The Ligue 1 Matchday 17 odds have moved quite a bit since they opened. PSG opened as -120 favorites but now show +115 odds to win after Neymar’s red card. Lens have moved from -110 to -145 odds to cover the ½-goal spread and from +310 to +225 odds to win. RC Lens are a perfect 8-0 at home this season but these two teams have drawn in their last two meetings.
A third consecutive draw comes in at +265 odds. Both Lens and PSG have only conceded 10 goals through 16 matches. With both sides conceded well under a goal per game, it’s no surprise that under three goals sits at -145 odds. Plus, PSG’s firepower is limited without Messi and Neymar.

Lille vs Reims
Date, Time & Streaming:
Lille and Reims have been among the fastest rising Ligue 1 teams over the last few months. That makes their Monday meeting one of the most intriguing matches on the Ligue 1 fixture schedule. Folarin Balogun picked up where he left off before the World Cup break for Reims. The Arsenal loanee scored a brace in a big 3-1 win over Rennes on Thursday. With the win, Stade de Reims extended their unbeaten run to eight games.
Now, they’re one-goal underdogs on the road at Lille. Lille sit at +105 ATS odds, while Reims come in at -135 odds to cover. The three-way moneyline displays Lille at -160 odds, Reims at +410 and a draw at +305. With a win, Lille will extend their Ligue 1 win streak to three matches. Reims haven’t defeated Lille on the road since 2014 but overs have been common in this fixture as of late. The last three meetings have finished with three goals and over 2½ shows -130 odds for this one.
Montpellier vs Marseille
Date, Time & Streaming:
Montpellier pulled off a surprise 2-0 win at Lorient on Thursday. Marseille’s win over Toulouse wasn’t exactly surprising but the fact that they scored six goals was. Five different OM players got on the scoresheet in the 6-1 demolition. When they head to Montpellier on Monday, Marseille will try to further solidify their top three place. Currently, OM are -130 moneyline and ATS favorites.
There’s a good chance Marseille get their fourth consecutive win in this one but underdogs Montpellier are priced at even odds to cover the ½-goal spread. Montpellier, who kept their first shutout since August on Thursday, sit at +315 odds to win. Marseille are unbeaten in the last six Ligue 1 meetings but there have been two draws during that time. A deadlock comes in at +295 odds. Three of the last four Ligue 1 fixtures have finished with three or more goals. Over 2½ goals shows -145 Ligue 1 Matchday 17 odds for this one. After all, Marseille are averaging three goals per game over their last four Ligue 1 matches.
Rennes vs. Nice
Date, Time & Streaming:
Reims handed Rennes their first Ligue 1 loss since August on Thursday. Now, SRFC have dropped out of the all-important top three. They’ll need to bounce back vs. mid table Nice on Monday. Midfielder Lovro Majer is expected to return for Rennes in this one after an extended World Cup break. The 2023 Ligue 1 odds price Rennes at -130 ATS and moneyline odds. Nice +½ sits at even odds and they’re unbeaten in their last eight Ligue 1 matches.
“Nice have only won three of those eight matches. They show +325 odds for Monday’s match and a draw is priced at +290 odds.”
However, Nice have only won three of those eight matches. They show +325 odds for Monday’s match and a draw is priced at +290 odds. The road team has done exceptionally well in this fixture as of late, which could bode well for Nice. The away side is unbeaten in the last seven Ligue 1 meetings. Scoring has been an issue for Nice, though, as they average just under a goal per game. Still, over 2½ goals comes in at -130 odds. Since getting shutout in their first match of the season, Rennes have scored in 15 straight Ligue 1 matches, though.
