PSG vs Montpellier Soccer Betting Odds: Head-to-Head:

The Ligue 1 scores in this fixture have been heavily in PSG’s favor over the last few years. PSG are on a ten game Ligue 1 winning streak against Montpellier as Vitinha and Kang-in Lee scored in both meetings last season. The Parisians picked up 6-2 and 3-0 wins against Montpellier in 2023-24 and La Paillade is winless in this fixture since 2019.

PSG Off to Winning Start

  • Last Match: 4-1 W at Le Havre
  • Next Match: Sep. 1 at Lille

This is set to be an interesting campaign for PSG. Without Kylian Mbappe, their all-time leading scorer, other players will have to step up. In last Friday’s Ligue 1 opener, against Le Havre, Kang-in Lee took less than three minutes to open up his account for the season.

Le Havre equalized in the second half but substitutes were at the center of PSG’s late-game scoring outburst. Joao Neves, on his debut after joining from Benfica, provided two assists as Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola and Randal Kolo Muani all scored in the Parisians’ 4-1 victory.

Despite Mbappe’s departure, most Ligue 1 predictions have PSG winning a fourth straight title. They entered the season at -400 outright odds and are allegedly looking to add players like Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen before the transfer market closes.

Unfortunately, Goncalo Ramos is set for ankle surgery after coming off injured in PSG’s first match of the season. If PSG don’t sign another striker, Kolo Muani will deputize. Ramos was PSG’s second-leading scorer in Ligue 1 last season, behind Mbappe.

Still, players like Barcola, Lee and Dembele will all cause problems for opposing defenses and Marco Asensio can play as a false nine.

Montpellier Roster Mostly Unchanged

  • Last Match: 1-1 D vs Strasbourg
  • Next Match: Aug. 31st vs Nantes

Montpellier managed a 12th place finish in Ligue 1 last season, with a 10-12-12 record. They’ve been a mainstay in Ligue 1 for quite some time but haven’t had much success since winning the title in 2012. The Ligue 1 betting odds listed Montpellier at +10000 outrights heading into the 2024-25 campaign.

To open up the 2024-25 season, Montpellier drew 1-1 on Sunday at home against Strasbourg. La Paillade fell behind but managed to win a penalty that Teji Savanier converted to equalize. Musa Al-Taamari played an instrumental role in creating the penalty with a driving run into the box.

Montpellier’s roster looks very similar to last season’s side, as they haven’t made any permanent transfers this Summer. Last season, Savanier was Montpellier’s leading scorer in Ligue 1, but seven of his nine goals came on penalties. Striker Akor Adams scored eight non-penalty goals and won the equalizing penalty against Strasbourg.

Montpellier have a young core, which includes 24-year old Adams and 22-year olds Joris Chotard and Becir Omeragic.

PSG vs Montpellier Match Analysis & Odds

For their home opener PSG are -300 moneyline favorites. Left back Nuno Mendes will return from a suspension for this one, while fellow defenders Lucas Hernandez and Presnel Kimpembe remain out, along with Ramos.

PSG have averaged over four goals per game in their last five matches against Montpellier and PSG -1.5 sits at -120 odds here. The over/under goal total is 3.5 here and four of the last five meetings have finished with four or more goals. So the over has been a better pick for PSG vs Montpellier soccer betting as of late.

Montpellier are +700 underdogs and they haven’t picked up a Ligue 1 win at the Parc des Princes since 2010. Here, backup striker Wahbi Khazri is returning from a suspension, while midfielder Khalil Fayad and defenders Christopher Jullien and Lucas Mincarelli could all miss this match with injuries.

A draw would be an excellent result for Montpellier and one comes in at +450 PSG vs Montpellier soccer betting odds.
