Orioles vs Blue Jays Betting Trends
- The Baltimore Orioles are 61-52 against the run line, including 32-22 away from home. Meanwhile, Baltimore’s hit the Over in five straight to improve to 64-40-9. Its 61.5% cover rate is easily the highest in baseball.
Conversely, the Toronto Blue Jays are just 53-59 against the run line, including 18-36 at home. It has been far more profitable against the Over/Under, going 61-47-4.

Orioles Flying High
The Orioles are in a virtual tie with the Yankees atop the American League East at 67-46. Their .593 win percentage is a smidge behind Cleveland (.598) for the best in baseball.
Baltimore began its 10-game road trip by splitting four games against Cleveland. In addition to Toronto, it also visits Tampa Bay for three before returning home on Aug. 13 to host Washington.
The Orioles’ lineup, led by Gunnar Henderson, Anthony Santander and Adley Rutschman, is averaging 5.1 runs per game and leads the majors in home runs, with 174. Five Orioles have hit at least 15 homers.
It’s no surprise, then, that have been kings of the Over, covering at the highest rate in baseball (61.5%). They’ve hit the Over in five straight and 13 of their last 14.
Third baseman Jordan Westburg, one of Baltimore’s most productive hitters with 18 homers and an .815 OPS, is out indefinitely with a fractured left hand.
Coby Mayo, the organization’s No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was called up from Triple-A Norfolk to counteract Westburg’s absence. Mayo is 0-for-9 from the plate to start his career.
Only Way to Go is Up
The Blue Jays are among the biggest disappointments in the 2024 MLB power rankings, sitting 15.5 games behind Baltimore in the AL East basement. They dropped five of seven on their recent road trip through Toronto and New York.
First baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been one of the few bright spots, batting .316 with 22 homers and a .925 OPS.
- He homered eight times in July and produced a 1.113 OPS, though it didn’t matter much as Toronto went only 12-14. At 51-61, they are a season-high 10 games under .500.
The Blue Jays are just 25th in runs scored (4.1 per game) and 27th in homers (102). Only three clubs have hit fewer longballs: Marlins, White Sox and Nationals.
Despite its ongoing offensive struggles, Toronto remains highly profitable for Over/Under bettors. It has gone Over the total in 17 of its last 20 games to boost its cover rate to 56%, tied for fifth-highest in the majors.
The Over’s also hit in four of its last five against Baltimore.
Bettors may want to prioritize that when making their MLB bets today.
