Baseball: Mariners vs Yankees Series Betting

New York adds Montas, Trivino, Benintendi Before Trade Deadline

It seems that the rich continue to get richer every season and that’s exactly what 2022 brought once again to the free agent frenzy that ends. Perhaps the Yanks aren’t done adding with superstar Juan Soto still out there, but they addressed their glaring need, and that is to add an arm to the bullpen that has seen Clay Holmes falter at times. Can Seattle hang around in this series, let’s take a look at Mariners vs Yankees Series Betting. (*Editor’s Note: Soto has been traded to the Padres)

To bet on MLB games successfully, bettors must be on top of every trade and how that might affect your bankroll. Heading into game two let’s put the Yankees moves in perspective

  • Matchup: Seattle Mariners (55-49) at New York Yankees (70-34)

New York Dominates at Home against the League’s Best

There’s one stat that sticks out as to why the Bombers have almost always been a part of the postseason discussion, and that’s their ability to beat .500 or better teams at home where they are 115-53 (69%). New York Yankees injuries have been the number one reason for playoff misses over the last couple of years.

New York is on a modest streak of 4 wins in 5 games at home, after a 7-2 opening series win against the Mariners, Monday. Newly acquired catcher, player Lou Trivino, hit two homers in his debut.

From a betting perspective, you have to add some psychology into your handicapping, which means, the Yankees clubhouse confidence has to be at a season-high.

On the other side, Seattle is dealing with injuries as they watch New York get stronger. The mental game, although overlooked, should play a major role when betting on MLB games.

Can Mariners Overcome History at Yankee Stadium?

The Mariners have been a consistent go-against team when visiting Yankee Stadium over the years. Over the last 13 visits, the Yankees have walked away as a winner 11 times.

Results aren’t much better when you look at the overall picture where the Pinstripes have won 37 of their last 53 meetings. They’ll have a hard time turning that around with injuries to Julio Rodriguez and Ty France who may return from a sore left wrist at some point in this series.

Rodriguez, (bruised right wrist), is expected to miss the entire series. When betting MLB games, you often want to make sure you have the better of the injury situation and the Mariners clearly do not.

Mariners Different Team Coming out of Break

Seattle went into the All-Star break white-hot, winning 14 straight games. Since the Mariners are just 4-7. They are still hanging on to a wild card spot by a game over Cleveland, but the health and difficulty of the schedule have Scott Servais’ team looking behind them.

Logan Gilbert (10-4, 2.78) gets the ball for the M’s against Jameson Taillon (10-2, 3.72) for New York. Taillon has managed to stay off the Yankees injury list this season and with that has turned into a terrific third starter after the injury to Luis Severino.

Winning MLB handicappers will tell you that in order to consistently win at betting MLB games you must have the pitching and mental edge. In order for the Mariners to win, Gilbert must pitch deep into the game against one of the best lineups in baseball. That’s not going to happen, take the Yanks.
