His last start came on Sunday against the Boston Red Sox, as he went 4.1 innings and allowed one run on six hits while striking out four and walking none.
Game 2: Garrett Crochet (Chicago) vs Robert Gasser (Milwaukee)
Chicago will go with lefty Garrett Crochet to start Saturday’s contest. The 24-year-old is 5-5 with a 3.68 ERA in 12 starts, recording 85 strikeouts to tie for third in the majors in the category. Crochet had a 24-inning scoreless streak snapped by the Orioles on Sunday, as he allowed two runs and three hits over six innings, striking out 11 in the process.
Helping the Milwaukee Brewers standings atop the NL Central have been pitchers like lefty Robert Gasser, who will make Saturday’s start. Gasser is 2-0 with a 1.96 ERA in four starts, striking out 13 in 23 innings. The rookie has been mostly very good in his first MLB appearances, including throwing six shutout innings against the Cubs on Monday, allowing just three hits while striking out seven and walking none.

Offense Major Advantage For Brewers
While there are some bright spots to the White Sox starting rotation, the run support they’ve received has been virtually non-existent in some games. Heading into Friday’s action, Chicago was dead last in the majors in runs at 161 (2.8 per contest), which was 50 fewer than the next-worst run total in the majors. The White Sox also rank last in baseball in batting average (.214) and home runs (39), showing exactly why they have been the majors’ worst team this season.
Shortstop Paul DeJong has been a nice surprise for the White Sox this season, hitting seven home runs, scoring 19 times and driving in 17 runs. But the former All-Star is batting just .226 and comes into this series having gone 1-for-13 at the plate over his last four games.
The MLB picks and parlays to make for this series offensively are on the Milwaukee side of things. Catcher William Contreras has been very good all season long, ranking sixth in the majors with a .317 batting average and fifth in RBI with 43. Contreras struggled a bit in a four-game series with the Cubs, going 2-for-16 with three strikeouts and no extra-base hits, but he should break out of that slump this weekend.
Brewers Dominate Weekend Series
The White Sox vs Brewers series odds heavily favor the host team, as Chicago is struggling just to be competitive of late. The starting pitching of the White Sox may keep things close for a little bit, but Milwaukee has too good of an offense to not dominate this series.
Look for the Brewers to roll to three straight wins against the White Sox, extending Chicago’s losing skid. When making your MLB picks for this weekend, make sure to include Milwaukee wins among them.
