Brewers vs Dodgers Series Prediction: Division Leaders Clash

Milwaukee Visits Los Angeles in Key Three-Game Series

The Milwaukee Brewers (52-36) visit the Los Angeles Dodgers (53-35) for three games starting Friday. The Brewers hold a 6.0-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central. The Dodgers lead the San Diego Padres by 6.5 games in the NL West.

The Brewers can pull into a tie with the Dodgers if they can take two of the three games. Milwaukee is 7-3 over its last 10 games, while Los Angeles is 6-4. The Brewers vs Dodgers series prediction is showing Aaron Civale and Tyler Glasnow getting the starts.

The two were teammates with Tampa Bay for a while last season. The Dodgers are -180 and the total is 8-under (-120). Los Angeles is +115 on the runline.

Milwaukee‘s offense is scoring 4.8 runs per game and 4.5 runs away from home. The Brewers are No. 4 in team batting average and tied for No. 18 in home runs. Milwaukee is No. 2 in stolen bases and No. 3 in walks drawn. The team can make something happen offensively even when not hitting the ball well.

The Brewers have done a decent job on the mound considering their injuries. Milwaukee is No. 9 in team ERA and the bullpen has converted 32 of 41 save opportunities.

The Dodgers are scoring 5.0 runs per game and rank No. 5 in team batting average and No. 3 in home runs. Los Angeles is No. 2 in walks drawn and No. 1 in on-base percentage, just ahead of Milwaukee. The Dodgers are No. 2 in slugging percentage, so the offense is pretty well-rounded.

On the mound, the Dodgers are No. 4 in team ERA and have converted 25 of 39 save opportunities. Los Angeles has also had some injury problems to its rotation, but have gotten good efforts from a few of the replacements.

Friday’s Game

Civale was traded to Milwaukee a couple of days ago by Tampa Bay. After starting last season with the Guardians and pitching well, Civale struggled after being dealt to Tampa Bay. His ERA with the team was over 5.00 last season and this season. A new start could be what he needs, as the Rays were 5-12 when he took the mound this season.

Glasnow has been everything the Dodgers wanted when they signed him as a free agent. Los Angeles is 11-6 when he takes the mound and 11-2 if they give him at least three runs of support. Glasnow leads the team in innings pitched and strikeouts.

The MLB betting lines on the total are a little puzzling here, as Civale’s numbers weren’t that great with the Rays. He did pitch better the last five weeks before he was traded. Both teams can put up some runs, but the Dodgers should have a chip on their shoulder.

Los Angeles was thumped Wednesday and Thursday at home by Arizona. Seeing another division leader could be enough to coax a strong effort from LA, so take the Dodgers on the run line at +115.

Saturday’s Game

The Brewers vs Dodgers series prediction is showing Freddy Peralta and James Paxton as the scheduled starters Saturday. Peralta is doing a decent job with a 6-4 record and a 3.83 ERA. He’s fanned 120 batters in 94 innings. Milwaukee is 12-5 when Peralta starts and 6-3 when he starts on the road. Despite decent numbers, the Brewers are 12-5 in totals when Peralta takes the mound, scoring 4.7 runs and allowing 3.1.

Paxton is no longer the dominating pitcher he could be at times with the Mariners and Yankees, but he’s still solid. He’s 7-2 on the year with a 4.28 ERA. The Dodgers are 11-4 when he starts and 10-5 in totals. Los Angeles is 4-1 when he starts at home.

Paxton’s last start was absolutely brutal, but the Dodgers left him to try and give the bullpen a rest. It turned out badly, as he allowed nine runs in four innings. That makes him a decent candidate to bounce back with a decent effort in this one. The Dodgers won’t be a huge favorite and are a decent selection for your free MLB picks.

Sunday’s Game

The Brewers vs Dodgers series prediction is showing Dallas Keuchel getting another start for the Brewers. After being hit hard in his first start with the team, he bounced back with a decent effort on the road at Colorado. He’s still 0-0 with a 6.75 ERA and Milwaukee has split his two starts this season.

The Dodgers haven’t officially named its starter for this game. It would be Bobby Miller’s turn in the rotation. Miller has been up-and-down this season and Los Angeles is 3-3 when he started. His last start wasn’t too bad, so he may get another start here. When he’s on his game, Miller is solid. A quick glance at the MLB live scores around the third inning will give you an idea how he’s going to perform for the day.

The uncertainty of this game makes it tough to give a prediction. Keuchel doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence from a betting standpoint. You might want to see him do well, but don’t really want to bet on him. Without knowing the Dodgers’ plan for the game, it’s just one to stat clear of.
