Can Atlanta or Milwaukee Find Enough Offense This Week?

Braves vs Brewers MLB Picks: Low Scoring & Fun Pitching Matchups On The Horizon

The Brewers have a slight edge to win Game 1 and the series.

The Milwaukee Brewers will take on the Atlanta Braves in a three-game series between two elite National League squads.

However, neither the Brewers nor the Braves have been elite offensively over the last month. It’s been mainly the pitching that has carried both teams over the previous month.

In this three-game series between the Braves and Brewers, we’ll get an underrated matchup tonight and an iconic one on Wednesday. At least one of the two teams will come up with big clutch hits to win the series.

Milwaukee is -112 on the moneyline, with the total sitting at 8. However, the Over has been juiced to -115 at this time.

Below, we’ll provide our top Braves vs Brewers MLB Picks for each game of the series.

Reynaldo Lopez Is Injured

The Braves have been terrific on the mound all season. Part of the reason was Reynaldo Lopez.

Lopez was an afterthought when he landed with the Braves in the offseason. However, he’s got a 2.06 ERA with 102 strikeouts and just 37 walks this season.

Lopez pitched on Sunday and left mid-game due to forearm tightness. For now, he’s day-to-day. But the Braves have to be cautious now. He’ll be needed for the more important games in the playoffs.

Therefore, he could end up missing a couple of starts. However, nothing is confirmed right now.

Welcome Back, Devin Williams

The Brewers reinstated Devin Williams from the 60-day Injured List. He made his season debut yesterday and pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

In the game, he threw 24 pitches, with 13 being strikes. He also added a strikeout in the inning.

Milwaukee has already been one of the best bullpens in the MLB. But now it’s even stronger with Williams in it. Maybe Williams will help the Brewers reach the top of the MLB rankings 2024 for bullpen ERA. They’re currently third right now.

Braves vs Brewers MLB Pitching Matchups and Odds

âš¾ Game 1 âš¾

  • Monday, 8:10 pm ET
  • Grant Holmes vs. Colin Rea

The Atlanta Braves will start Grant Holmes for the first time this season. Holmes already has multiple appearances in the big league this year and has a 2.70 ERA.

He’s ultimately faced 62 batters over the last month and has held them to a .035 ISO and wOBA of .201. He’s been elite. However, a starter role could affect his play.

Holmes has only averaged about 37 pitches per appearance over the last 30 days.

Still, with the Brewers’ projected lineup hitting a .112 ISO and wOBA of .284 against righties over the last month, Holmes figures to match up well enough against the Brewers tonight.

On the flip side, Colin Rea will pitch for the Brewers. The right-hander has been much better over the last 30 days, averaging 23.7% of strikeouts with a .057 ISO and wOBA of .259. Rea has even limited walks to 5.4% and has earned 45.5% of ground balls.

All of these numbers are better than his seasonal average. He’s been elite over the last month and will now take on a Braves projected lineup that has hit a .273 wOBA with 27% of strikeouts in the previous 30 days against righties.

The Braves and Brewers are weak at the plate right now. Consider the Under 8 at -105.

âš¾ Game 2 âš¾

  • Tuesday, 8:10 pm ET
  • TBD vs. TBD

There hasn’t been a starter announced for either team in this game. However, there are rumors that Bryse Wilson will take the hill for the Brewers.

Wilson had been pitching in relief lately, but he’s allowed a .259 ISO and wOBA of .331 to his last 58 batters faced. He’s also been horrendous against lefties in the previous 30 days.

Matt Olson, Jarred Kelenic, and Eddie Rosario are the three Braves hitters to watch out for if Wilson is pitching. Therefore, as of now, our MLB pick would be the Braves in Game 2.

âš¾ Game 3 âš¾

  • Wednesday, 3:10 pm ET
  • Chris Sale vs. Freddy Peralta

We might get a rubber match of the three-game series on Wednesday. That would be epic, with a matchup between Chris Sale and Freddy Peralta. These are two of the best pitchers in the MLB. They’re also two of the best strikeout throwers in the game.

Sale has earned 34.1% of strikeouts over the last month. The lefty has also held teams to a .110 ISO and wOBA of .244 with 49% of ground balls and 15.7% of fly balls allowed. The Brewers likely don’t stand a chance, as they’ve struggled against lefties over the last month.

Meanwhile, Freddy Peralta has struggled a bit more over the last 30 days. The right-hander has still struck out 25.4% of batters but has watched his previous 118 batters hit a .183 ISO and woBA of .321. These aren’t demoralizing numbers, but it’s concerning to see Peralta has allowed 36% of fly balls over the last month.

Things are going much more smoothly for Sale. Let’s rock with the Braves as one of our three Braves vs Brewers MLB picks.
