The Braves are a -200 favorite to win the series, with the Dodgers priced at +160. For a more detailed breakdown of the pivotal series, here is our Dodgers vs Braves betting preview.

Braves logo Welcome Back, Freddie

Star first baseman Freddie Freeman returns to Atlanta for the second time since the 2021 World Series. Freeman signed with the Dodgers in March 22 after 12 MLB seasons in Atlanta, where he made five All-Star teams, won a Gold Glove, three Silver Sluggers, the 2020 NL Most Valuable Player award, and helped lead the franchise to its first World Series title since 1995.

Last season’s series in Atlanta was an emotional one for Freeman, who broke down during a press conference and also cried on the field as he received his 2021 World Series ring alongside many of his former teammates.

Freeman, 33, is putting together another strong season with the Dodgers, hitting .321 with eight home runs and 28 RBI through 48 games. His 61 hits are third in MLB behind Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (64) and Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (62).

Dodgers logo Dodgers’ Rotation Banged Up

The Dodgers are calling up two of their top prospects from Triple-A to help fill the void in their injury-riddled pitching rotation.

Gavin Stone is slated to pitch the series-opener, the second start this season for the No. 4 prospect in Los Angeles’ system. Bobby Miller, a former first-round pick and the club’s No. 2 prospect, is expected to make his Major League debut on Tuesday, though Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has yet to confirm that.

The Dodgers put right-hander Dustin May (right forearm strain) on the 15-day injured list on Thursday, less than a year after May returned from Tommy John surgery. May, who has a 4-1 record with a 2.63 ERA, is expected to miss at least a month. Left-hander Julio Urias, who is 5-4 with a 4.39 ERA, joined May on the IL on Saturday with a hamstring strain.

In his Major League debut on May 3 against Philadelphia,. Stone pitched four innings and allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits. He walked two and struck out one, as Los Angeles won 10-6.

Game 1

  • Charlie Morton vs Gavin Stone (Monday, 7:20 p.m., ET)

The 39-year-old Morton will be on extra rest opposite Stone, who was called up from the minor leagues to help replace May. In his last start against Texas on May 15, Morton pitched 6.2 shutout innings and struck out 10. He is 5-3 with a 2.85 ERA this season. On paper, it’s a mismatch for MLB results for today.

  • Atlanta is -1.5 on the (+135) on the run line and -153 to win outright, with Los Angeles coming in at +1.5 (-155) and +138, per MLB point spreads. The over/under odds are Over 9 (-120) and Under 9 (EV).

Game 2

  • Spencer Strider vs TBA (Tuesday, 7:20 p.m., ET)

Strider has been one of baseball’s best pitchers to date, with a 4-1 record and 2.96 ERA over his first nine starts. He leads the majors with 86 strikeouts in 51.2 innings.

While the Dodgers have yet to announce a starter, Miller is expected to make his Major League debut, according to multiple reports. Miller has struggled in Triple-A this year (5.65 ERA over 14.1 innings), but his potential is enormous.

Game 3

  • Bryce Elder vs Tony Gonsolin (Wednesday, 7:20 p.m., ET)

This has the potential to be the best pitching matchup for Dodgers vs Braves betting purposes. The 24-year-old Elder is 3-0 with a 2.06 ERA, while Gonsolin has registered a miniscule 1.13 ERA in five starts after missing all of April with an ankle injury.
