Giants vs Dodgers Series Preview: Dodgers Hoping for More

Giants Looking to Narrow the Distance in NL West

Taking a look at the MLB Giants vs Dodgers series preview tells us the Los Angeles Dodgers have enjoyed being at home for a few days during the All-Star Break and that’s exactly where they’ll start this 4-game series. Opening betting odds show the Dodgers a -155 favorite, that has been bet down after opening -165. the total is set at 8 over -120, with money coming in on the under after opening 8.5.

Since 2006, the Giants are just 152-161 (48.56%) head to head against Los Angeles, but that’s good enough to make bettors a large profit of 2909 units. Just once since 2012, have the Giants not been profitable against LA and that was in 2012 when bettors lost a grand total of 13 units. Player Carlos Rodón (8-5, 2.66) will get the start in San Francisco giants game one for San Francisco. He will be opposed by Mitch White (1-2, 4.20) for the Dodgers.

  • Game: San Francisco Giants (48-43) at Los Angeles Dodgers (60-30)
  • Location: Dodger Stadium
  • Day/Time:
  • Television: ESPN

The toughest hurdle besides bankroll management, for bettors to overcome, is to forget what they just saw.  As we continue our Giants vs Dodgers series preview we must be mindful that the Giants have shown to be inconsistent this season making it difficult to go back with another ‘over’ wager even though the last time the San Francisco Giants played a game they put up a nine spot on the Brewers.

History will remind us that we’ve seen this before. In that same Brewer series, we look back to game one where the Giants bats scored eight, only to come back and manage just two in their sweep of the Milwaukee team. On July 12th, against the Diamondbacks, SF scored a whopping 13 runs, only to come back the next day and cash an under ticket in a 4-3 loss to the snakes.

That makes five straight games the Giants have scored four or more runs only to produce an under in the next game. The betting odds on the Dodgers may look enticing to the public but I think we’re going to find our winner in the total.

Dodgers Looking to Pick up Where They Left Off

Our Giants vs Dodgers series preview reminds us that Los Angeles, heading into the All-Star break, was on a 4-game winning streak to go with 15 of their last 17, however, even with that in mind -145 is still a little too rich to lay. The total always provides a much better option to manage our bankroll in a responsible manner.

The last time these two hooked up was over a month ago when the Giants swept the Dodgers by a combined score of 12-4, with the Giants not allowing the Dodgers to score more than two runs in the series. This surely, adds some fuel to the rivalry, as you can bet the Dodgers are looking forward to another round of games against the San Francisco Giants.

Stay Away From Popular, The Under is the Play

As we conclude our Giants vs Dodgers series preview we see that money has come in on the Dodgers hand over fist, but the Dodgers betting odds are not what sharp bettors are going to look for in this game against the Giants who are on a 24-10 the game after a day off, or in this case, many days off.
