Joey Votto Stats: Cincinnati First Baseman With Stellar Career
Votto Has Amassed Impressive Career Numbers

Cincinnati’s Joey Votto is a bit of an anomaly. In an age when players are jumping to different MLB teams through free agency, Votto has played his entire career for the Cincinnati Reds. And it’s been quite an impressive career for Votto. The Joey Votto stats are a bit better than one may think when they look at his career numbers.
Votto was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds out of high school in the 2002 MLB Draft. He was taken in the second round with the 44th overall selection. He signed with the Reds and made his professional debut in the Gulf Coast League playing for Sarasota in 2002. Votto toiled in the minor leagues for a few seasons. He was called up to the Cincinnati Reds on Sept. 1, 2007, and made his Major League Baseball debut on Sept. 4.
In 2008, Votto became Cincinnati’s regular first baseman and hit .297 with 24 home runs and 84 RBI, finishing second in the National League Rookie of the Year voting. He followed that up with a .322 batting average with 25 homers and 84 RBI in 2009. And he was just getting started.
2010 MVP Season
Everything came together for Votto in 2010, as he hit .324 with 37 home runs and knocked in 113 runs, helping the Reds reach the playoffs. He was named National League MVP and won the NL Hank Aaron Award. The baseball scores didn’t go Cincinnati’s way in the playoffs, as the Phillies won the series 3-0.
In 2011, Votto won the Gold Glove Award, while hitting .309 and knocking in 103 runs. He hit 29 home runs and drew 110 walks.
The Joey Votto stats dropped a little in 2012, as he played in just 111 games due to a torn meniscus in his left knee. He hit a career-high .337 with 14 home runs and 56 RBI.
In 2013, Votto led the league in walks for a third time, while hitting .305 with 24 homers and drove in 73 runs.
He missed significant time in 2014 due to injuries but rebounded with three straight .300-plus seasons between 2015 and 2017. He hit 36 home runs in 2017 and 2021, but age has caught up with him a bit, as he hasn’t hit above .266 since 2019.
Career Stats
Through July 31, 2023, the Joey Votto stats showed a career batting average of .296 with 351 home runs and 1,132 RBI. Due to the number of walks he draws, his career on-base percentage is .411. He led the league in on-base percentage seven times.
Votto has 2,116 hits and hit 457 doubles, leading the league with 40 in 2011. Despite not possessing great speed, Votto has 80 lifetime stolen bases and has been caught stealing 29 times.
Votto has played in just 11 postseason games in his career. Although to be fair, the Reds typically haven’t been very high in the MLB power rankings while Votto has been there. His career playoff batting average is just .244 with 1 RBI.
