Braves (41-31, -6.13)/Yankees (51-25, +14.75)

  • Friday: Atlanta Chris Sale (9-2, 2.98) vs New York Carlos Rodon (9-3, 3.28)/Apple TV+
  • Saturday: Atlanta Charlie Morton (4-3, 3.91) vs New York Marcus Stroman (6-3, 3.08)/FOX
  • Sunday: Atlanta Hurston Waldrep (0-1, 16.71) vs New York Nestor Cortes (4-5, 3.36)

It’s early in the season but the Atlanta Braves would do themselves a favor by getting on a role after cutting the Philadelphia lead in the East to seven games after a three-game win streak.

The Bravos are comfortably on top of the National League wild card standings (+5.5) but with their sights set on a World Series title, this series against the Yanks is a measuring stick.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

New York leads the Baltimore Orioles by 1.5 in the American League East. At 17-18, the Braves road record isn’t the worst in baseball but they haven’t been as reliable away from Truist Park as years past.

Bettors enjoyed a 52-29 (+4.07) Atlanta road record last season and 144-99 (.593) over the previous three years, 10th in the Majors (25th in 2024).

You know you’re a true contender when your baseball team is profitable as a favorite and underdog. That’s exactly where the Yankees are with 8.25 units won as a favorite (40-19) and +6.50 in the underdog role (11-6).

  • Only the Cleveland Guardians (+9.11) and Baltimore Orioles (+8.29) have topped the Yankees in 2024 as a favorite.

We suggest watching where the money goes because when New York receives more than 50% of the money wagered on the moneyline, the Yanks have rewarded the public with a 40-18 record (+12.34).

When Atlanta receives less than 50% of the money, the Braves are 7-9 (-4.67). Our free MLB picks for this series have us leaning towards the under this weekend.

Diamondbacks logo Arizona Diamondbacks vs Philadelphia Phillies Phillies logo

Diamondbacks (36-38, -5.18)/Phillies (49-25, +8.05)

  • Friday: Arizona TBD vs Philadelphia Taijuan Walker (3-2, 5.33)/Apple TV+
  • Saturday: Arizona Jordan Montgomery (5-4, 6.00) vs Philadelphia Zach Wheeler (8-4, 2.84)
  • Sunday: Arizona Slade Cecconi (2-5, 5.90) vs Philadelphia Christopher Sanchez (4-3, 2.91)

This weekend isn’t full of marquee match-ups but the Diamondbacks and Phillies should at least be labeled intriguing.

Heading into Thursday’s games, the Snakes trail the Los Angeles Dodgers by nine games in the National League West but are just a half-game out of the final wild-card spot in the current MLB standings.

With the Braves in New York, the Phillies should look at this series to push their lead back up in the East. Arizona will be an underdog in all three games this weekend, which hasn’t been ideal after losing 22 of their first 36 (-4.56) as a dog.

The majority of their money lost has happened as a home dog (-5.01), but on the road, the D’Backs have turned a small profit (+0.45) behind a 12-15 mark. The Phillies continue to roll as a favorite with a 43-19 record (+7.28).

Over the last two MLB seasons, the Phils are 110-62 (.640) as a favorite and 69-31 (.690) as a home favorite, good for 9.70 units of profit. Only the Milwaukee Brewers have produced more money for bettors (+9.82) as a home favorite in that time.

It should be noted that since 2021, the Diamondbacks are just 120-164 (.423) against teams that have played more than 70 games (-25.72), working on a string of four straight losing seasons using this filter. We suggest looking toward the under this weekend.

Orioles logo Baltimore Orioles vs Houston Astros Astros logo

Orioles (48-25, +12.18)/Astros (34-40, -14.79)

  • Friday:: Baltimore Grayson Rodriguez 8-2, 3.20) vs. Houston Jake Bloss (0-0, 0.00)
  • Saturday: Baltimore Corbin Burnes (8-2, 2.14) vs. Houston Spencer Arrighetti (3-6, 6.37)
  • Sunday: Baltimore Albert Suarez (3-1, 2.05) vs. Houston Ronel Blanco (7-2, 2.43)

The Baltimore Orioles are one of the most profitable teams in Major League Baseball with 12.18 units won, adding to a three-year run where they’ve handed bettors 64.99 units of profit based on a one-unit wager.

In that time, the Cleveland Guardians are the second to the O’s but 51.06 units less (+13.93) to give you an idea of how good Baltimore has been. Baltimore trails the Yankees by a game and a half in the MLB American League East standings.

Houston looks to be on their way to another losing season against the money with 14.79 units lost in 2024 and 18.39 over the last two seasons. The Astros trail the Mariners by nine baseball games in the American League West and 6.5 out of the last wild card spot.

There’s so much work to be done in Houston starting with getting to the .500 mark. In 2024, the Astros have been a touch better playing weekend series (Fri-Sun) with an 18-17 record (-3.83).

Since 2020, Houston is 163-140 (.538) on the weekends but still in the red (-29.69). Since 2022, Baltimore is 115-78 (.596) on the weekends with 33.81 units won, tops in baseball. We recommend looking toward the over in this series.

That does it for you look at the MLB upcoming series trends, we wish you nothing but the best with your MLB picks and parlays.
