Twins Thrive In This Spot
If Joe Ryan throws well today, you can bet there will be some MLB player props across the league on how many times one uses baby powder on national television during games.
If you don’t know look it up, or maybe don’t.
Ryan has been better than his numbers indicate with 118 strikeouts in 109.1 innings after a decent start against the Houston Astros (5.2 innings, 5 hits, 3 earned, 1 walk, 8 k’s) in a 9-3 Twins win. It was his sixth start in a row that the former Cal-State Northridge star gave Minnesota a quality effort while going at least five innings in all of his 18 starts this season.
Since June 7th the righty is 2-1 with a 3.13 era, allowing 28 hits in 37.1 innings. Ryan has racked up 31 k’s against five walks but has allowed five homers in that span.
The Twins are just 3-3 in his last six starts but this is a spot where they usually come out on top, and by spot, we mean games against teams other than the New York Yankees (0-6), Cleveland Guardians (0-5), or Baltimore Orioles (0-3). That’s a combined 0-14 against those teams and 53-26 (.671) against everyone else. The Twins are also comfortable as a favorite, rewarding bettors with a 44-23 record and 6.65 units won this season. Only Cleveland (+1253) and the Philadelphia Phillies (+8.24) have been more reliable when favored to win.

Are The Giants Buyers Or Sellers, This Weekend May Decide
With the 2024 MLB schedule heading toward the August 1st trade deadline, this is a difficult time of year for teams hovering below the .500 mark.
Management knows that their clubs should built for a more realistic chance to win a World Series or at least go deep into the postseason the following year while fans look at the standings and see that the Giants are still in the race for a wild card spot. We’ll know very soon how they plan to proceed with some heavy rumors that they’d be willing to part with closer Camilo Doval (3-1, 4.04 ERA, 17 saves, 3 BS, 35.2 innings).
The Giants lack the star power that would list them on the MLB MVP odds board making Doval the best option to stock up for next season on young talent. Tonight, San Francisco will send Kyle Harrison to the bump hoping to bring the Giants one step closer to being a buyer. The lefty needs to bounce back from a poor outing against the Guardians after allowing four earned in just 3.1 innings while allowing four hits and walking four in a 5-4 loss.
Harrison’s recent form has not been what playoff teams are hoping for after giving up 16 earned in his last 25.2 innings (5.61 ERA) to go with 34 hits allowed. San Francisco is at home which has given them a small boost to their record and our bankroll after a 26-21 mark, good for 1.65 units of profit (7th in baseball at home).
Bettors Expect Offense To Take Center Stage Tonight
We don’t prefer to bet with the public but when you’re dealing with a sport like baseball, that matters far less than when we’re dealing with a spread. Over 90% of the money and 92% of the ticket are coming in on the over with just under 3800 tickets wagered throughout various books.
So far it’s just small money but it does give an idea of what the public is thinking which means if you’re going to ride with us it would be better to jump on this wager now. Joe Ryan has pitched in three straight overs where the game totals have averaged 9.67 runs with the Twins scoring at least five runs in every game. Three of Kyle Harrion’s last five starts have cashed over tickets with his average total runs coming in at 10.2.
Our Twins vs Giants MLB betting preview recommends the over in Game 1.
