MLB Monday Recap: Selling the Farm on Overs

Six Weeks In, What Bettors See is What Bettors Get

The MLB Monday recap shows it was a banner day for over bettors. Totals went 9-2-1 for the day, bringing the season record to 297-291-20. The first eight games on the schedule all landed on the over. It wasn’t until the late West Coast games were played before an under ticket cashed.

The Monday MLB recap has favorites posting a solid 8-4 mark on the day. Favorites are now 357-251 for the season, but are showing a flat-bet loss due to the price.

Pitching may be the name of the game, but the top four teams in the MLB team stats for hitting are all showing a flat-bet profit so far this season. The Mariners, leading the league in pitching, are showing an overall loss.

A number of Monday’s games were decided early on, so there wasn’t a lot of sweating out games for bettors. The Orioles and Astros both saw their totals decided in the fourth inning, while Colorado needed five innings.

Nationals Win as Underdogs

While Monday was a good day for favorites, the day didn’t start out well for them. The Mets and David Peterson were -155 favorites and were thumped 10-3. The Nationals led 6-1 after five innings and 8-2 after six. Washington moved to 8-14 on the season as a home underdog.

Yankees Get Rare Underdog Win

Alek Manoah and the Blue Jays were solid -145 favorites over Jimmy Cordero and the New York Yankees. New York struck early, taking a 5-0 lead after four innings and went on to post a 7-4 victory. The win was just the fourth as an underdog this season for the Yankees, who are 4-8 when not favored.

Cardinals Explode Late Against Brewers

Freddy Peralta and the Brewers were the slimmest of favorites against the Cardinals and Jack Flaherty. The Cardinals led 4-0 entering the bottom of the sixth. St. Louis scored four times in the sixth and erupted for 10 runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Wacha Has Gem for Padres

Michael Wacha was nearly unhittable on Monday against the Royals. He allowed one hit over seven innings and struck out 11, as San Diego won 4-0. The Padres are now 6-2 in the games Wacha has started this season.

Scoring Drought in San Francisco

Those who bet the over 9 in the San Francisco vs Philadelphia game has to be smiling when the Giants led 6-2 after two innings. But the relief pitchers did their job and the teams could muster just a single run over the last seven innings, making a push of total wagers.

Dodgers Walk Their Way to Victory

The Monday MLB recap shows the toughest loss of the day would go to those who bet the Twins against the Dodgers in one of the day’s best MLB matchups. After rallying back from an early 5-1 deficit, the Twins tied the game in the eighth inning and the teams went to the 10th inning.

The Twins scored once and had the bases loaded with no outs, but two strikeouts and a flyout left the bases full. After the Dodgers tied it in the bottom of the 10th, Los Angeles won on a two-out, bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 12th.
