Padres vs Orioles Predictions: San Diego on a Roll
Padres Bring Five-Game Winning Streak Into Series

Padres vs Orioles Predictions
The San Diego Padres (55-50) visit the Baltimore Orioles (61-41) for a three-game series starting Friday. The series has playoff implications for both teams. San Diego trails the Dodgers by 7.0 games but is holding onto a wild card spot.
The current MLB standings show the Orioles with a 2.0-game lead in the American League East over New York. The Padres vs Orioles predictions are showing Adam Mazur and Grayson Rodriguez as the scheduled starters for Friday’s game. The Orioles are -205, and the total is 9-over (-120).
The Padres are leading MLB with a .262 team batting average. San Diego is tied for the No. 10 spot in home runs, so it’s a little surprising the team is averaging just 4.5 runs per game. That’s just .1 runs more than the MLB average of 4.4 runs per game, and the Padres have decent stats.
San Diego is No. 18 in team ERA, and the bullpen has converted 25 of 39 save attempts. The Padres rank No. 20 in bullpen ERA, so they’re performing a little bit worse than the starters, but not by much. The pitching staff isn’t a strength, but it’s not really a weakness.
The Orioles are averaging 5.0 runs per game on the strength of a league-high 160 home runs. Baltimore can hit for average, ranking No. 7 with a team average of .253. The Orioles do go up to the plate swinging, ranking No. 25 in walks drawn.
Baltimore’s pitching staff is ranked No. 7 in team ERA. The Orioles have 32 save in 48 attempts, so the bullpen is doing the job for the most part in close games. Baltimore ranks No. 12 overall in bullpen ERA, so the relievers are helping the team keep its top spot in the division.

Friday’s Game
The Padres vs Orioles predictions aren’t giving much respect to Mazur and it’s easy to see why. Through seven starts, Mazur is 1-3 with a 7.84 ERA. He’s allowed 38 hits and 19 walks in 38 innings while striking out 21. On the bright side, the Padres are 3-4 when he starts, so his struggles haven’t hurt the team too much. San Diego is 5-2 in totals when he starts.
San Diego has won seven of its last games against a left-handed starter but is still averaging just 3.3 runs against southpaws overall.
Rodriguez brings a 12-4 record and a 3.84 ERA into Friday’s game. The Orioles are 13-5 when he starts, but also 13-5 against the run line, which takes on added importance in a game with MLB odds this high. Baltimore has gone 11-5-2 in totals when Rodriguez starts.
It looks as though the Orioles on the run line at +105 or the over 9 are the ways to go in this game. With Mazur allowing a homer every six innings, the best MLB prop bets today could be on Baltimore players to hit home runs.
Saturday’s Game
The scheduled starters for Saturday are Michael King and Dean Kremer. The Orioles are likely to be small favorites in this game. King has quietly put together a pretty decent season for the Padres.
He’s 8-6 with a 3.28 ERA, and San Diego is 12-8 when he starts and 7-4 when he starts on the road. San Diego is 5-3 when King starts as an underdog, with all three losses by one run. That puts them a perfect 8-0 on the run line with King as an underdog.
Kremer is having an average season for the Orioles. He has a 4-6 record with a 4.43 ERA. Baltimore is 6-7 when he starts and 2-2 since he came back from a triceps injury suffered in May. The Orioles are 3-3 when he starts at home and 5-1 in totals in those games. T
he Orioles could use Kremer to get back to his form of the last couple of seasons. That would help the rotation when the MLB playoff dates roll around and give the team another dependable starter.
With the Padres performing well with King as an underdog, San Diego is probably the side to be on in this game. The price will be steep to take him on the run line, although you can’t argue with the results.
Sunday’s Game
The Padres vs Orioles predictions show neither team has officially named a starter for Sunday’s series finale. It should be Albert Suarez for the Orioles, but he left Tuesday’s game limping with an apparent leg injury after taking a comebacker off the leg.
There has been no word on his status, but the Orioles could use his arm. Baltimore has a doubleheader with Toronto scheduled for Monday, making pitching a valued commodity right now.
Randy Vasquez is due up in the San Diego rotation, and he’s coming off his best effort in some time by throwing six shutout innings against Washington. The Padres have won four of his last five starts. He warrants a look, depending on what the Orioles end up doing pitching-wise. Although with all the uncertainty regarding the pitchers, it might be a game to tread lightly in.
