Seattle’s Pitching, Too Much for Tigers
Mariners vs Tigers Series Odds: The Mariners will Keep Cruising
The Seattle Mariners will take their four-game winning streak to Detroit this week. The Mariners are just .5 games back from the Astros in the AL West and are also only two games out of the AL Wild Card.
They’ll take on the Tigers in a three-game series on the road. Detroit would need a miracle to make the playoffs. At 56-63, the Tigers are 14 games out of the AL Central and nine games out from the AL Wild Card.
Still, the Tigers have a fun young core that could use the experience down the line. A home series against one of the best pitching staffs in the MLB will be a good measuring stick for the young studs on the roster.
- For tonight’s matchup, the Tigers are -108 on the moneyline, with the total set at 8.5. However, the Under is juiced to -115.

Mariners Announce Victor Robles Extension
The Seattle Mariners have signed outfielder Victor Robles to a two-year extension guaranteeing nearly 10 million.
Robles began the season with the Washington Nationals but was designated for assignment near the end of May.
That’s when the Mariners gave him a shot. He’s already hit over .300 with three home runs for Seattle this season.
He’s batting lead-off and is one reason the Mariners have started to rise within the MLB World Series odds.
Does Dillon Dingler Belong?
Right after sending Carson Kelly to the Texas Rangers, the Tigers called up top prospect Dillon Dingler. He had a breakout season in Triple-A, hitting 17 home runs and 52 RBIs.
However, over the last seven games with the Tigers, he’s only hit .150 and has just two RBIs. The rest of the season will allow Dingler to get some experience and adjust.

Mariners vs Tigers Series Preview
⚾ Game 1 ⚾
- Tuesday, 6:40 pm ET
- George Kirby vs. Tarik Skubal
At this time, it’s not confirmed. However, George Kirby is expected to start for the Mariners. The right-hander has limited his last 97 batters to a .140 ISO and wOBA of .301. He’s also held teams to 3.1% of walks over that time.
His strikeout rate has dipped a bit over the last month. But he’s still inducing 43.1% of ground balls and allowing just 22.2% of fly balls over the previous month.
He’ll battle a Tigers projected lineup that has hit a .170 ISO and wOBA of .308 over the last 30 days. Detroit’s lineup has also struck out 23.7% of the time against righties in the previous 30 days. In addition, the lineup has walked just 5.6% of the time against righties.
Conversely, Tarik Skubal will get the call for the Tigers. He’s a lefty who has held his last 113 batters to a .125 ISO and wOBA of .285 in the previous 30 days. Skubal has struck out 27.4% of batters over the last 30 days and has held those same batters to just 6.2% of walks. The young lefty has been this consistent all year long.
He’ll take on a Mariners lineup featuring seven batters with a wOBA of no higher than .299 against lefties over the last 30 days.
The Seattle lineup has also struck out more than 25% of the time against lefties over the last month. Seattle has more power potential in the lineup. But against Skubal, it’ll be hard to connect.
Let’s back the Under 8.5 (-115) for tonight’s American League tilt. This is one of our MLB best bets of the day.
⚾ Game 2 ⚾
- Wednesday, 6:40 pm ET
- Bryan Woo vs. Kenta Maeda
The Mariners and Tigers have yet to confirm pitchers for Games 2 and 3, but this matchup between Kenta Maeda and Bryan Woo is our best guess.
Kenta Maeda had been poor throughout the season. However, Maeda has held his last 77 batters to a .299 wOBA over the last month. You can thank his high ground ball rate and low line drive rate for this success. Ultimately, Maeda won’t dominate with high strikeouts like Skubal.
Bryan Woo has held his last 90 batters to a .091 ISO and wOBA of .228. He induced 55.2% of ground balls over the previous month and struck out 31.7% of lefties during that time.
The Tigers will likely have more lefties in the lineup than righties. Therefore, per our MLB expert picks, we’d back Woo and the Mariners for Game 2 of this series.
⚾ Game 3 ⚾
- Thursday, 1:10 pm ET
- Bryce Miller vs. Brant Hurter
These aren’t confirmed starters yet. Neither team has penciled in a starter for this game. But it’s likely Bryce Miller will start for the Mariners. Miller is a righty who has held his last 93 batters to a .112 ISO and wOBA of .254. He’s been able to limit walks at a high rate and has held teams to 19.1% of line drives over the last month.
The Tigers could counter with Brant Hurter. Hurter is a lefty who has thrown to just 32 batters. However, those 32 batters have hit just a .032 ISO and wOBA of .200 with over 65% of ground balls induced. Hurter has a lot of potential against the Mariners. This could be another low-scoring game to close out the series.
Consider the Under when the Mariners vs Tigers series odds are revealed for Game 3.
