White Sox vs Twins Picks Easily Go To Minnesota
Chicago still looking for first win after All-Star break

The Minnesota Twins try to take a few more steps to a potential playoff spot when they host the division rival Chicago White Sox for a three-game weekend series beginning on Friday night. Minnesota is certainly in position to try to make it onto the World Series schedule, while the White Sox are just looking for a victory or two.
Chicago (27-84) is on a 17-game losing streak and hasn’t earned a win since before the All-Star break. The White Sox are in last place of the AL Central with the worst record in baseball, sitting 26 games behind the fourth-place Detroit Tigers.
Minnesota snapped a two-game losing skid with a win over the New York Mets on Wednesday. The Twins (59-48) are in second place in the division standings, six games behind the first-place Cleveland Guardians and percentage points ahead of the Kansas City Royals. They are in the second Wild Card spot in the American League.

The White Sox vs Twins picks are as you might expect, with Minnesota favored in the series opener heavily, sitting at -279 on the moneyline. You can get Chicago at +245 for the straight-up win on Friday.
Even getting 1.5 runs from the Twins doesn’t get the White Sox down to even odds, as they’re +115 on the run line. Minnesota is -135 even when giving those 1.5 runs. The over/under for the series opener is set at 8.5 runs, with the under getting -117 and the over -103.
The series opens with an 8:10 p.m. ET first pitch on Friday night, followed by a 7:10 p.m. ET contest on Saturday. The finale is set for 2:10 p.m. ET on Sunday, with all games being played at Target Field in Minneapolis.

Pitching Matchups
Game 1: Davis Martin (Chicago) vs Joe Ryan (Minnesota)
The White Sox have right-hander Davis Martin set to make the start for Friday’s opener. Martin has appeared in just one other game this season, a relief appearance in Saturday’s loss to the Seattle Mariners.
The 27-year-old went 2.2 innings and allowed one run on three hits while striking out three and walking three. Martin did start nine games in 2023, going 3-6 with a 4.83 ERA.
Minnesota will counter with righty Joe Ryan, who brings a 6-7 record and 3.69 ERA to his 22nd start of the season. Ryan has 138 strikeouts, tying for 10th in the majors. The 28-year-old struggled a bit in July, going 1-2 with a 5.87 ERA.
His last outing was against the Detroit Tigers on Saturday, and he took the loss after going six innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits while striking out eight and walking one.
Game 2: Garrett Crochet (Chicago) vs Bailey Ober (Minnesota)
All-Star Garrett Crochet will get the call for Saturday’s contest for Chicago. Crochet is 6-8 with a 3.23 ERA, ranking second in baseball with 160 strikeouts.
The left-hander is coming off a loss to the Mariners on Sunday, lasting just three innings and allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits while striking out three and walking one. This is his third start against the Twins this season, and he’s gone 0-1 with a 7.00 ERA in the first two meetings.
The Twins are hoping for a repeat performance from righty Bailey Ober when he takes the mound for Saturday’s contest. Ober is 10-5 with a 3.76 ERA with 121 strikeouts, and he had one of the better pitching performances of the season in his last outing.
Facing the Tigers on Sunday, Ober threw eight shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out 11 and walking two. Ober’s only loss in July was to the White Sox, allowing three runs over six innings, which was also Chicago’s last win.
Game 3: Chris Flexen (Chicago) vs Simeon Woods Richardson (Minnesota)
Chicago will start a pitcher with one of the worst records in MLB today’s game in righty Chris Flexen. The 30-year-old is 2-10 with a 5.13 ERA in 21 starts and 23 overall appearances, recording 80 strikeouts in 112.1 innings.
Flexen pitched well in his last start, going six innings against the Kansas City Royals on Monday and allowing two runs on nine hits. He’s looking for his first win since early May.
Righty Simeon Woods Richardson is hoping for a bounce-back performance when he starts Sunday’s game. Woods Richardson is 3-2 with a 3.74 ERA in 18 starts, but his shortest outing of the season came in his last start.
Facing the New York Mets on Monday, Woods Richardson lasted just 3.1 innings, giving up six runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking three.
Twins With Clear Offensive Edge Over White Sox
One of the biggest reasons for Chicago’s struggles this season has been its lack of offensive punch. The White Sox rank last in baseball in scoring with 338 runs, nearly 50 fewer than the next lowest total. Most MLB score predictions involving Chicago will go towards the under. Minnesota is on the opposite end of the rankings, tying for eighth in the majors with 507 runs.
Outfielder Matt Wallner had a home run in Wednesday’s win over the Mets, his third in his last five games. The 26-year-old spent 2.5 months in Triple-A this season, but he’s making a case for staying at the major league level. Since being called back up in early July, he’s batting .364 with five doubles, five home runs, nine RBI and eight runs scored.
First baseman Andrew Vaughn has been one of the bright spots for Chicago this season, leading the team with 48 RBI. Vaughn is batting .232 with 20 doubles, 13 home runs and 38 runs scored. He went hitless in the series finale against the Royals on Wednesday after hitting home runs in each of the first two games.
Twins Roll Over Struggling White Sox
Our White Sox vs Twins picks are pretty easy to make, with Chicago struggling just to get one win over the last few weeks. Minnesota has dominated the season series, winning nine of the first 10 matchups with Chicago, and that should continue this weekend.
The Twins have more to play for, and that will show up. Minnesota should dominate the weekend against its division rival, winning at least two of the three games.
