Bellator 284 – Gracie vs Yamauchi Odds: Second Chances

Former Title Challengers Looking for Another Shot

For a second straight event, Bellator is featuring its grappler as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialists, Neiman Gracie and Goiti Yamauchi, headline Bellator 284. The Gracie vs Yamauchi odds favor the former as he looks to get back to winning and book another title shot. He isn’t the one as several former title challengers can get a second crack at Bellator gold with impressive victories this Friday.

Gracie and Yamauchi Pit Elite Brazilian Grappling

These BJJ experts are likely competing for the next title shot at welterweight. Gracie and Yamauchi have combined for 30 submission victories and both have a submission-to-victory ratio at 77.8 percent or better. Experience-wise, Yamauchi has more but at the smaller weight divisions. Gracie will be one of the biggest fighters he’ll tussle with.

The size disparity is why the racie vs Yamauchi odds favor the fifth-ranked contender. His three losses in MMA Bellator have come against champions or title contenders like Logan Storley and Rory Macdonald. Otherwise, he’s made short work of his opponents including Ed Ruth and Jon Fitch, two elite wrestlers.

As for Yamauchi, he successfully made his welterweight debut against Levan Chokheli. He finished him in one round. In fact, he finished his last four victories in the first round and owns ten first-round finishes under Bellator. If you find Bellator 284 betting odds for him to win in the first, this is a solid bet, especially at plus-money.

Top Contenders Looking for Another Title Shot

In the co-main event, former interim heavyweight champion Valentin Moldavsky faces the undefeated Steve Mowry as a moderate favorite. Moldavsky was upset by Bader in the title unification bout. This was his only defeat in Bellator. But Mowry has been on a tear and is not only unbeaten but has finished all 10 of his opponents.

In the feature fight, former women’s flyweight champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane looks to end a two-fight skid and remain a top contender in the division. The Bellator 284 betting odds slightly favor her to turn back Bruna Ellen, whose last loss came against the former champion Juliana Velasquez.

Also, Austin Vanderford looks to get back on track by beating Aaron Jeffery. Vanderford could book a title shot against the new welterweight champion, Johnny Eblen, with a dominant victory here. He is tied with Moldavsky as the biggest favorite on the main card per the Bellator 284: Gracie vs Yamauchi odds.

Typical Squash Fights Set for Bellator Prospects

While Bellator 284’s main card has relatively even matchups, we can’t say the same for the prelims. Half of the fights feature a touted Bellator prospect set to steamroll an opponent. Patrick Downey, Bailey Schoenfelder, Sullivan Cauley, Isaiah Hokit, and Mitchell McKee are all lined at 6-1 or greater from the betting lines.

If you bet on Bellator fights, it’s better to parlay several of them to get a better return. A parlay of all five is at -136 on the online sportsbook. But buyer beware! Big upsets are quite common in Bellator, especially since we’re dealing with unproven fighters. It can take one punch or a grave error to turn the tables and bust the parlay.

If laying chalk isn’t your thing, some more recognizable names are also on the prelims. Veteran bantamweight Josh Hill faces Marcos Breno as the feature fight of the prelims. Meanwhile, ex-UFC fighters Justine Kish and DeAnne Bennett rematch. The latter is heavily favored as she beat up Kish in their first fight. But Kish just beat McFarlane and if she avenges this loss, she could earn a title shot.
