Alsco Uniforms 300 betting odds: NASCAR Xfinity Series returns to Charlotte

After a break for the All-Star Race, Cup Series drivers lead the odds again

The 2023 NASCAR All-Star Race gave the Xfinity Series a week off from action. Last time out in Darlington, Cup Series driver Kyle Larson brought home the win ahead of Justin Allgaier and Cole Custer. John Hunter Nemechek holds a slim championship lead of just one point over early frontrunner Austin Hill.

This week the series heads to Charlotte Motor Speedway. The NASCAR schedule allows multiple Cup Series drivers to race both events. Two of them are favorites for an Xfinity Series win this weekend. Below, we dive in the Alsco Uniforms 300 betting odds.

Cup Series drivers favored for the win

Cup Series rookie and defending Xfinity Series champion Ty Gibbs (+260) is the favorite to win this weekend. He finished third in the last Xfinity Series race he competed at in Austin. Gibbs won this race in 2021 for Joe Gibbs Racing, and he’ll be back with that team on Saturday.

He won that race from eighth and took second last season after starting 36th. This is one of the best tracks from his Xfinity Series days. A win on Saturday would be no surprise.

Fellow Cup Series racer Kyle Busch is close behind at +275. This is Busch’s third Xfinity Series race of 2023. In Las Vegas, he finished fourth. In Phoenix, he took ninth. This is a significant drop-off from his results in his last Xfinity season in 2021. Two years ago, he won all five races he competed in.

This year, he’s seeing his worst results since 2019. He has a steady track record in Charlotte. He has one win and 15 top-five finishes in the Cup Series in 34 races. But the Xfinity results from earlier this season give pause for picking him for victory.

Xfinity championship leaders next up

Xfinity standings leader Nemechek (+450) is the next-best on the Alsco Uniform 300 betting odds. He’s had limited running at Charlotte but has performed well in his chances. He won the Craftsman Truck Series race there in 2021 and finished third in 2022. His last Xfinity Series race there was in 2019, when he finished 12th.

Two Cup Series races there in 2020 saw him finish 16th and 13th. Given his performance this season and his team (Joe Gibbs Racing), he’ll likely be near the front again. But catching Gibbs and Busch may be a tough ask.

Justin Allgaier is next at +550. The JR Motorsports driver is still looking for his first win in 2023 despite sitting third in the championship. That’s the story for many Xfinity frontrunners. Nemechek and Hill have won five of the 11 races. The two have a big gap to the rest of the top five.

Allgaier is 52 points behind them thanks to five podium finishes. In 20 Xfinity Series races in Charlotte, Allgaier has 11 top-10 finishes. His best result was second in 2019. A win on Saturday would be a breakthrough but will be challenging.

Cole Custer (+800) has been similarly steady in 2023. No driver on the Xfinity grid can match his streak of five top-eight finishes, but he’s yet to win a race in 2023. He’s come close in Charlotte, with second and fourth-place finishes in 2018 and 2016, respectively. Stewart-Haas Racing has never won the Xfinity Series race in Charlotte. It’d be a surprise to see Custer take the win this weekend.

Allgaier’s teammate Josh Berry rounds out the top group at +900. He took one of his three wins last season in Charlotte after a close battle with Allgaier.

Busch was the last Xfinity driver to win consecutive events in 2004-2005. It’ll be hard to repeat, but Berry has the results there and this season overall. Only Nemechek can match his total of nine top-eight finishes this season. Like Allgaier, he needs that breakthrough win.

Longer Alsco Uniforms 300 odds to consider

Sam Mayer is one of four drivers sitting at +2000 among the Alsco Uniforms 300 betting odds. One of the youngest drivers on the grid, he has very limited running in Charlotte. But last year, he finished third behind Berry and Gibbs for one of his four podiums that season.

Around this time in 2022, Mayer was in the midst of a run of eight top-five finishes in 10 races. He’s only managed one such result in 2023 — second in Fontana — and could use this race to bounce back up the order from 10th.

Rookie Sammy Smith (+2000) is one of the youngest race winners in Xfinity Series history after his win earlier this year in Phoenix. He’s only managed two top-five finishes in the seven races since then. But he does have a solid team behind him that’s won two of the last three races in Charlotte. For a value pick, finding someone better is challenging.

Predictions for the Alsco Uniforms 300

The stage is set for another Cup Series driver to win the Xfinity event this weekend. Gibbs has a track record and team combination that’s a proven winner. Given how Busch has raced in Xfinity events this season, he’s the best pick for the win.

Consider Nemechek if you’re looking beyond the Cup Series drivers for a better value. After Hill took the early lead in the NASCAR standings, Nemechek’s closed in on him and passed him for the top spot in the championship. A third win here would equal Hill’s season total and build a gap at the top of the standings. If Nemechek’s NASCAR odds are not a big enough payout, look to Mayer to find the form he’s been missing lately.
